Engagement Consultant

Summary

You know how to sell consulting. You know how to listen. And you can tell the difference between a prospect who needs help and one who just wants to talk. Our agency is looking for an exceptional Engagement Consultant to handle inbound fit calls with founders and operators who are actively looking for help with the operational infrastructure behind their business. This is not cold calling. These are warm, inbound prospects who have already raised their hand and want to determine whether we are the right partner to help them. Your job is to understand what's really happening inside the business, identify the right path forward, and close qualified prospects into our $2,500 Systems Assessment. If you're good at consultative selling, comfortable talking to business owners, and naturally curious about how businesses actually work, this could be a very good fit. Our Agency helps growing businesses build the operational infrastructure they need to scale. Our clients are founder-led and growth-stage businesses that have outgrown the systems holding the company together. The founder has become the bottleneck. The CRM can't be trusted. Automations have become fragile. Processes live in people's heads. The team is busy, but things still fall through the cracks. We don't just recommend another piece of software. We diagnose the underlying operational problems and build the infrastructure to fix them. Every engagement starts with a Systems Assessment, a two-week operational diagnostic that produces a clear picture of what's actually happening and a prioritized roadmap for what needs to change. From there, clients may move into Systems Rescue, Scale Infrastructure, or Fractional Integrator engagements. We're growing, inbound calls are coming in, and we need someone exceptional to take them. The Role You'll conduct 30-minute inbound fit calls with prospective clients and determine whether there is a legitimate fit between their needs and our agency. This is a diagnostic sales role, not a traditional sales script role. You'll need to understand the business problem beneath what the prospect initially tells you. A prospect might say: "Our CRM is a mess." You need to understand why. Is it bad data? Broken architecture? Poor process? Conflicting automation? Lack of ownership? Or is the CRM actually fine and the real problem is somewhere else? You'll ask the right questions, identify the underlying problem, determine the appropriate engagement, and confidently recommend the next step. For qualified prospects, that next step is the $2,500 Systems Assessment. You will not be expected to sell something that isn't appropriate for the client. We would rather lose a bad-fit prospect than create a bad-fit client. What You'll Do Conduct 30-minute inbound fit calls with prospective clients Diagnose operational challenges through thoughtful, consultative questioning Understand the relationship between people, processes, systems, technology, and data Determine whether the prospect is a fit for: Systems Assessment Systems Rescue Scale Infrastructure Flex Hours Or no engagement Close qualified prospects into the $2,500 Systems Assessment Send a concise written recap after each call Document key information, objections, and next steps in the CRM Provide clean handoffs to the delivery team after a close Identify recurring prospect questions, objections, and patterns that could improve our messaging and sales process What You Won't Do Cold outreach Cold calling Lead generation Delivery or implementation work Ongoing account management Technical implementation Push prospects into engagements they don't need Sell based on pressure or artificial urgency Your job is to sell the right solution, not the most expensive solution. What We're Looking For You have experience selling expertise, not commodities. We're looking for someone with: 3+ years of consultative B2B sales experience, preferably professional services, consulting, agency, technology, or operations Experience selling $2,500–$12,000+ engagements Strong discovery and diagnostic questioning skills The ability to speak comfortably with founders, executives, and business operators Genuine understanding of business operations and the problems created by disconnected systems and processes The ability to quickly distinguish symptoms from root problems Strong written communication and follow-up skills Confidence closing a qualified prospect in a single conversation The judgment to disqualify a prospect when the fit isn't right The ability to work independently without constant oversight Particularly relevant backgrounds: Operations or management consulting RevOps Agency sales B2B professional services Marketing technology CRM or automation consulting Fractional operations SaaS or technology sales where the sale required real discovery You don't need to be a technical implementer. But you do need to understand enough about business systems to have an intelligent conversation about them. Compensation Per-Call Compensation $50 per completed fit call Prospect No-Shows If a prospect does not show for their scheduled call: You receive $25 for the missed call slot. If that prospect subsequently rebooks and completes the call, you receive the remaining $25, bringing the total compensation for that prospect's first scheduled call to $50. One no-show payout per prospect. If the same prospect no-shows again after rebooking, there is no additional partial-call payment. Prospect Reschedules 24+ hours notice: The call simply moves to the new time. No payment is made for the original slot. You receive the full $50 when the prospect completes the rescheduled call. Less than 24 hours notice: Treated as a no-show. You receive $25 for the original slot. Commission Systems Assessment 15% commission on every Systems Assessment closed At $2,500, that's: $375 per closed Assessment Implementation If the client moves into Systems Rescue or Scale Infrastructure within 60 days of completing their Assessment, you receive: 10% of the first implementation engagement So if a client moves into a $9,000 implementation: $900 additional commission What That Can Look Like For example: 20 completed calls/month 8 Systems Assessments closed 3 implementation clients at $9,000 That's: $1,000 in per-call compensation $3,000 in Assessment commissions $2,700 in implementation commissions $6,700 total And that's before additional call volume as the business grows. How This Role Can Grow This position is intentionally starting as a fractional role. As we grow, there is potential for: Increased inbound call volume Higher earning potential Defined industry or vertical ownership Expanded business development responsibilities A full-time position with a base + commission structure Greater involvement in the company's sales and growth strategy We're building the sales function alongside the company. The right person won't just take calls. They'll help us build what happens after the lead comes in.
