Summary

About the Role Independent film and television production company Jonnete is seeking an experienced entertainment paralegal or legal documentation specialist to work alongside our entertainment attorney. The immediate goal is to consolidate and professionally organize the company’s film and television intellectual property, contracts, rights records, and chain-of-title documentation under the appropriate company structure. This is a hands-on legal operations and documentation role. We need someone who can take a collection of scripts, treatments, pitch materials, registrations, agreements, correspondence, and collaborator records and turn them into a clean, attorney-ready rights and documentation system. Phase 1 — Paid Chain-of-Title Audit We intend to begin with one or two projects as a paid test/audit. The selected specialist will build the chain-of-title and documentation structure for those projects, identify gaps, and prepare an attorney-ready action list. If the work is strong and integrates well with our counsel, the engagement may expand across the full company slate. Scope of Work • Inventory and organize scripts, treatments, series bibles, pitch materials, and underlying IP by project. • Create and maintain a complete chain-of-title file and checklist for each project. • Review existing writer, producer, collaborator, option, shopping, assignment, license, development, release, and related agreements for documentation completeness. • Identify missing signatures, assignments, releases, registrations, approvals, or other documentation requiring attention. • Assist with documenting ownership or assignment of scripts and other IP to the appropriate company entity, subject to attorney direction and approval. • Prepare draft assignments, schedules, exhibits, deal summaries, checklists, and other documentation for attorney review. • Organize U.S. Copyright Office registrations and related records. • Create and maintain a master IP / rights tracker covering the company’s slate. • Maintain executed agreements, signature records, version control, and clearly organized legal folders. • Prepare a prioritized list of unresolved rights, ownership, chain-of-title, or documentation issues for counsel. • Coordinate efficiently with our entertainment attorney on matters requiring legal judgment, drafting, or final approval. Ideal Experience • Entertainment law, film/television production legal, or entertainment business affairs. • Film and television chain of title and rights clearance. • Copyright and intellectual property documentation. • Writer, producer, director, collaborator, option, shopping, assignment, license, and development agreements. • Production-company legal operations and document management. • Corporate/entity documentation relating to ownership and exploitation of entertainment IP. • Experience at an entertainment law firm, studio, production company, agency, management company, financier, or with independent producers is strongly preferred. What Success Looks Like We are looking for someone exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, discreet, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of documentation-heavy work. You should be able to distinguish between administrative/documentation tasks you can execute and matters that need to be escalated to counsel. This role does not replace legal counsel and is not intended to involve independent legal advice. The specialist will work alongside and under the direction of our attorney, with legal determinations and final legal documents reviewed or approved by counsel as appropriate. Expected Deliverables • Master IP / rights tracker for the company slate. • Chain-of-title checklist and folder structure for each assigned project. • Organized digital legal files with consistent naming and version control. • Gap analysis identifying missing, incomplete, unsigned, or inconsistent documentation. • Draft documentation and supporting schedules/exhibits for attorney review. • Prioritized action list showing what must be completed to establish clean, defensible ownership and chain of title. • A repeatable documentation system that can be rolled out across future projects. To Apply Please send a concise description of your relevant experience, your hourly and/or project rate, and examples of the types of entertainment documentation you have handled. Please specifically address: • Your experience with film/TV chain of title. • Your experience with copyright and IP ownership documentation. • Whether you have helped clean up or consolidate an independent producer’s or production company’s existing slate. • Your experience working directly with entertainment attorneys. • How you would approach a Phase 1 audit of one or two projects before expanding to a larger slate.
