About the work We're a property damage restoration operation looking for a reliable estimator to build our Xactimate estimates on an ongoing basis. Jobs are residential and light commercial water damage, mold remediation, and related mitigation work. Our field team documents each job thoroughly, including photos, moisture readings, sketches, drying logs, and scope notes. You turn that documentation into a clean, defensible estimate. This is not a one-off project. As our job volume grows, so does yours. We want one person who learns how we work and gets faster and sharper with every file. What you'll do Build water mitigation, mold remediation, and reconstruction estimates in Xactimate (X1 preferred) from field documentation Create and adjust sketches, line items, and scope based on photos, moisture logs, and notes from the field Revise estimates when adjusters push back, scope changes mid-job, or supplements are needed Flag missing or unclear documentation before writing, rather than guessing at scope Apply current price lists correctly and keep line item logic consistent from job to job Occasionally jump on a short call to walk through a file with our project lead Availability and turnaround Standard turnaround: 24 to 48 hours from receiving complete documentation Occasional rush files needing same-day or next-morning turnaround Expect 2 to 8 files per week to start, growing over time You set your own hours, but we need responsiveness during U.S. Mountain Time business hours and a reply to messages within a few hours Revisions and supplements often move fast, so we need someone who does not disappear for days mid-file Who we're looking for Detail obsessed. A missed line item or wrong category costs real money, and you treat it that way Clear communicator who asks questions instead of assuming, and tells us early when something looks off Comfortable being coached. We will train you on our specific standards, documentation format, and preferences, and we want someone who applies feedback the first time Consistent and dependable over clever. We would rather have predictable quality every week than brilliance on alternating Tuesdays Able to talk through your estimating process out loud, including how you decide scope and how you handle adjuster disagreement Experience Xactimate and restoration estimating experience is strongly preferred, but not required. If you are sharp, organized, and genuinely willing to be trained, we want to hear from you. We will provide training in Xactimate specific to restoration work. Nice to have, none of it required: Xactimate certification (Level 1, 2, or 3) Water and mold mitigation estimating specifically, per IICRC S500 and S520 scope logic Experience with insurance carrier requirements and supplement processes Familiarity with field documentation tools such as Encircle, Magicplan, or similar How to apply Skip the generic cover letter.
