Excel Automation & Data Validation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Excel Automation & Data Validation Specialist to develop, maintain, and optimize complex Excel workbooks that automate data movement, validation, reconciliation, and reporting processes. The ideal candidate will have advanced Excel expertise and be capable of creating solutions that automatically transfer, consolidate, compare, and validate data across multiple worksheets and workbooks without manual copy-and-paste processes. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build scalable Excel-based solutions that improve efficiency, reduce errors, and support business operations. Key Responsibilities Excel Automation & Data Integration • Design and develop advanced Excel workbooks that automatically pull, transfer, consolidate, and update data between multiple worksheets and workbooks. • Create automated workflows using Excel formulas, Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA/macros, and other advanced Excel tools when appropriate. • Eliminate manual copy-and-paste processes through dynamic data connections and automated calculations. • Build templates and dashboards that support business reporting and analysis needs. • Develop automated reconciliation processes between multiple data sources. Data Validation & Quality Assurance • Compare data across multiple spreadsheets and datasets to identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, and missing information. • Create validation rules and error-checking mechanisms to ensure data accuracy and integrity. • Design exception reports that identify data mismatches and anomalies. • Perform root-cause analysis of data issues and recommend corrective actions. • Develop controls that prevent data-entry errors and duplicate records. Reporting & Documentation • Generate accurate reports and summaries from large datasets. • Document workbook functionality, formulas, automation processes, and validation logic. • Train end users on workbook functionality and best practices. • Provide ongoing support and enhancements for existing Excel solutions. Required Qualifications • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. • Strong experience with: o Complex formulas and functions (XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, IF statements, nested formulas, etc.) o Power Query o Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts o Data Validation o Conditional Formatting o Advanced reporting and dashboard creation • Experience creating automated data transfer and consolidation processes between worksheets and workbooks. • Ability to analyze large datasets and identify data quality issues. • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with VBA/Macros or Excel automation scripting. • Experience integrating Excel with databases, CSV imports, or external data sources. • Familiarity with Power BI. • Experience supporting finance, operations, HR, healthcare, or data management environments.
