Experienced Accountant / Bookkeeper (QuickBooks, Full-Cycle Accounting)

Pex Consulting is a bookkeeping and accounting services agency looking for an experienced accountant to join our team on a contract basis. We support a portfolio of small business clients, including restaurants and other service-based businesses, and need someone who can manage full-cycle accounting from day one with minimal ramp-up time. This is an ongoing engagement with the potential to grow into a long-term working relationship for the right candidate. Responsibilities Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple client accounts: accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close Maintain accurate, up-to-date books in QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop) Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) Reconcile discrepancies and resolve accounting issues promptly Process payroll entries and ensure accurate categorization of transactions Prepare records and support documentation for tax filings, working alongside CPAs/tax preparers as needed Communicate clearly with clients and internal team members on account status, deadlines, and any issues requiring attention Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records for each client Requirements Proven experience as a full-charge bookkeeper or accountant, ideally supporting multiple clients or businesses Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks (Online and Desktop) — required Solid understanding of full-cycle accounting principles and GAAP basics Experience reconciling bank/credit card statements and preparing financial statements High attention to detail and accuracy with numbers Strong written and verbal English communication skills Ability to manage deadlines across multiple clients independently Reliable internet connection and availability for regular communication Nice to Have Experience working with restaurant or hospitality clients Familiarity with other accounting software (Xero, Wave, FreshBooks) Experience with sales tax filing and multi-state compliance QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification Prior experience working with a bookkeeping/accounting agency (not just in-house)
