Experienced Electronics Engineer Needed to Turn a Hardware Architecture into a Production-Ready PCB
Worldwide
We are looking for an experienced electronics engineer to transform a fully defined low-power hardware architecture into complete, production-ready schematics and PCB design files. The product architecture has already been developed in detail. We will provide: - Extensive technical documentation and functional descriptions - System and hardware block diagrams - Interface definitions and electrical requirements - A predefined BOM covering the main active and supply-constrained components - Preliminary PCB drawings - Mechanical CAD files - Component-placement constraints and drawings identifying components with fixed or restricted positions - Board dimensions, mechanical boundaries, and other relevant design constraints This is not a concept-development assignment. The selected engineer will be responsible for converting an established and extensively documented architecture into a robust, manufacturable hardware design. 1) Scope of Work The project includes: - Review of the existing hardware architecture and technical documentation - Review and validation of the proposed components and electrical interfaces - Creation of complete electronic schematics - Component selection for passives, protection circuitry, power filtering, and supporting components - PCB stack-up definition - PCB placement and routing in accordance with the provided mechanical and positioning constraints - Integration of components with fixed or restricted PCB positions - Design for manufacturability, assembly, and testing - Signal-integrity, power-integrity, grounding, RF, and EMI/EMC considerations - Generation of manufacturing and assembly deliverables - Support during design review and initial prototype production The board includes a combination of: - Microcontroller-based digital electronics - Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity - NFC/RFID reader functionality - Multiple sensors - Power-management circuitry - External communication and programming interfaces - Compact mechanical and component-placement constraints - Low-power design requirements Further technical details will be shared after execution of an NDA. 2) Required Deliverables The final package should include: - Complete schematic source files - PCB layout source files - Schematic and PCB PDFs - Final BOM with manufacturer part numbers - Gerber or ODB++ manufacturing files - Drill files - Pick-and-place files - Assembly drawings - Fabrication drawings and PCB specifications - 3D PCB model - Design-rule-check and electrical-rule-check reports - Clear documentation of design decisions, assumptions, and open points The design must be sufficiently complete for direct submission to a professional PCB manufacturer and assembly house. 3) Required Experience We are looking for someone with proven experience in: - Designing compact, low-power, production-grade embedded electronic products - Multilayer PCB design - Microcontroller and sensor integration - Bluetooth Low Energy and RF-enabled hardware - NFC and RFID reader integration - Antenna placement, RF layout, matching networks, and keep-out requirements - Power-supply and low-power embedded design - EMI/EMC-aware PCB layout - ESD, surge, reverse-polarity, and interface protection - Design for manufacturing and assembly - Working from mechanical drawings and predefined component-placement constraints 4) Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is methodical, detail-oriented, and comfortable challenging design assumptions when necessary. We expect more than simply connecting components according to datasheets. You should be able to identify technical risks, recommend improvements, explain schematic and layout decisions, and deliver files that are clean, organized, maintainable, and ready for manufacturing. Particular attention will be required for RF performance, NFC/RFID integration, power integrity, sensor routing, mechanical restrictions, and the positioning of constrained components. 5) How to Apply Please begin your proposal with the words “Production PCB Design” so we know you have read the full description. This project may lead to further engineering work, including prototype review, design revisions, testing support, certification support, and future hardware versions.
