We are looking for an experienced full-stack developer to build a modern competition management platform dance/sporting competitions. The product design and user experience have already been developed in Figma and we are looking for a strong developer who can take the established product requirements and designs and turn them into a polished, functional application. **This is primarily a development/implementation role — not a design role.** We have already invested significant time into the product strategy, UX, information architecture, and interface design. The successful developer should be comfortable working from detailed Figma designs and implementing them faithfully rather than redesigning the product independently. About CompStar CompStar is designed to modernize ballroom competition management and replace many of the manual, paper-based processes currently used by competitions. The platform will support multiple user types, including: * Competition organizers * Studio owners * Instructors * Competitors/students * Independent competitors * Judges * Administrators * Emcees The application will include functionality such as competitor and studio management, competition registration, heatlists, judging workflows, competitor views, and administrative tools. What You'll Do * Review the existing Figma designs and product requirements * Recommend an appropriate technology stack and application architecture * Build the application from the approved designs * Implement the UI faithfully, including layouts, interactions, navigation, states, and responsive behavior * Develop the backend, database, APIs, authentication, and necessary business logic * Build the different user roles and permissions * Implement the core competition-management workflows * Ensure the application is reliable, maintainable, and scalable * Test the application thoroughly and resolve bugs * Communicate clearly about technical decisions, blockers, and progress Design & Development Expectations The Figma designs are already established and should serve as the source of truth for the product's visual design and user experience. We are looking for a developer who is comfortable translating Figma designs into production-quality software with a high degree of visual accuracy. You should be able to: * Interpret detailed Figma designs independently * Accurately reproduce typography, spacing, layouts, components, and interactions * Implement different UI states and user flows * Pay close attention to visual details and consistency * Identify technical issues or ambiguities in a design and communicate them before making significant changes I am absolutely open to reasonable technical recommendations. If something in the design needs to change because of a technical constraint or because there is a substantially better way to implement it, that conversation should happen before the design is changed. We are looking for a developer, not a designer or product strategist. The product direction and core UX have already been established. The goal is to take the existing product vision and designs and turn them into a high-quality, production-ready application. Please include examples of applications you have personally built, particularly projects involving complex workflows, multiple user types, dashboards, registration, scheduling, or other systems with significant amounts of structured data.
