Experienced Revit Users Needed to Test a New Add-in

We are looking for experienced Revit users to test the alpha version of a new BIM add-in for Autodesk Revit. The app monitors Revit elements and automatically keeps them on the correct workset according to rules created. This is a structured software-testing assignment. It is not a software development, coding or model-production role. The purpose of the test is to validate: • Installation and first-time setup • Revit integration and ribbon loading • Configuration clarity • Automatic workset assignment • Behaviour during normal model editing • Performance and responsiveness • Error reporting and diagnostics • Overall usability for BIM teams The current alpha supports Revit 2025, 2026 and 2027. Selected testers will receive access to a private Discord server containing the installer, README, test instructions, bug-reporting area and structured feedback survey. The selected tester will be expected to: 1. Read the supplied alpha testing instructions. 2. Download and install the alpha build. 3. Confirm that the loads correctly in an installed version of Revit. 4. Open the standalone app. 5. Review or configure the supplied workset governance rules. 6. Test Proactive using an authorised sample, detached, backed-up or non-confidential Revit model. 7. Observe how the handles initial model processing. 8. Create and modify suitable elements to check whether they are assigned to the expected worksets. 9. Test the supplied runtime controls, where applicable. 10. Record any incorrect assignments, errors, crashes, freezes or confusing behaviour. 11. Submit individual defects through the private Discord bug-reporting forum. 12. Attach screenshots, screen recordings or diagnostic files when relevant. 13. Complete a structured alpha feedback survey at the end of the test. 14. Confirm whether the application is suitable for further testing. The expected time commitment is approximately 5–6 hours for the initial test round. Applicants must have: • Current hands-on experience using Autodesk Revit • Legitimate access to Revit 2025, 2026 or 2027 • Experience working with Revit worksets and workshared models • Understanding of element workset assignment • Experience opening, editing and navigating medium or large Revit models • A Windows computer on which they are authorised to install test software • Ability to provide clear, structured written feedback in English • Ability to capture screenshots or short screen recordings • Access to Discord • Willingness to install and test an unsigned alpha application • Permission to use the selected computer and Revit model for testing Applicants must not use confidential client models unless they have explicit permission to do so. Preference will be given to applicants with one or more of the following: • BIM Coordinator or BIM Manager experience • Revit model-management responsibility • Experience managing workset standards • Experience with ACC cloud models • Experience testing Revit add-ins • Experience reporting reproducible software defects • Experience troubleshooting Revit performance • Access to medium or large workshared models • Ability to test more than one supported Revit version We are particularly interested in testers from architecture, structures, MEP and multidisciplinary BIM environments. This is an early alpha build and is not intended for public distribution. The selected tester must agree to: • Not redistribute the installer, README or private download link • Not publish screenshots of private testing materials without permission • Not reverse-engineer, decompile or inspect the application • Not share confidential client or employer information • Use a sample, detached, backed-up or otherwise authorised model • Report defects through the agreed testing process • Remove or update the build when instructed • Treat the application as experimental software The installer is currently unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may display a warning during installation. This will be explained in the supplied instructions. The assignment will be considered complete when the tester provides: 1. Confirmation of the Revit version tested. 2. Basic details of the test environment and model. 3. Confirmation that installation was attempted. 4. Confirmation of whether the Proactive ribbon and Config Manager loaded. 5. Completion of the supplied testing activities. 6. A completed structured alpha survey. 7. Separate bug reports for any reproducible defects discovered. 8. Screenshots, recordings or diagnostic files for significant issues, where available. 9. A final recommendation stating whether the build is ready for wider alpha testing. This role does not include: • Software development • Source-code review • Modification of the application • Penetration testing • Reverse engineering • Creation of production BIM deliverables • Sharing complete client models • General marketing feedback without completing the technical test Please answer all of the following in your proposal: 1. Describe your experience with worksets and workshared Revit models. 4. What is your current or most recent BIM-related role? 5. What type and approximate size of model could you use for the test? 6. Would the model be local workshared, detached, Revit Server, ACC/BIM 360 or another type? 7. Do you have permission to install an unsigned alpha application on your Windows computer? 8. Are you able to join a private Discord server for instructions and reporting? 9. Have you previously tested software or reported reproducible defects? 10. Are you able to provide screenshots, recordings and diagnostic files when a problem occurs? 11. Confirm that you will not redistribute or reverse-engineer the application. 12. State your availability to complete a 5–6 hour test session. Applications that do not confirm access to a supported version of Revit will not be considered.
