Experienced UK SEO Content Writer – Home, Garden & Outdoor Living

We are looking for an experienced **SEO content writer** for ongoing work with a UK client in the home, garden and outdoor living space. This role is best suited to a writer who can take ownership of an article from start to finish. You will generally be given a **topic and target keyword rather than a detailed content brief**. You should therefore have enough SEO and content writing experience to independently determine search intent, research the topic, decide what the article should cover, create an appropriate structure, and produce a polished final article. Example topics include: * How to build a shed base * Benefits of cold plunges * Infrared vs traditional sauna * Gazebo vs pergola The subject matter varies, so strong research skills and the ability to confidently tackle unfamiliar topics are important. ## What the role involves You will be responsible for: * Researching article topics independently * Understanding the search intent behind the target keyword * Deciding what information should be covered and how the article should be structured * Writing useful, well-researched SEO content from scratch * Using **Surfer SEO** to incorporate relevant keywords and optimise the finished article * Matching the tone and style of the client's existing blog content * Writing consistently in **UK English** * Using reliable sources where factual claims require research * Producing content that is informative and natural rather than generic or keyword-stuffed * Submitting polished work that requires minimal editorial intervention You will have access to the client's existing website and blog content so that you can familiarise yourself with the brand, products, terminology and established writing style. ## Who we are looking for We are looking for someone with solid professional SEO writing experience who is comfortable working independently. Experience in one or more of the following niches would be particularly relevant: * Home improvement * DIY * Garden and outdoor living * Garden buildings * Construction or building materials * Saunas, spas or home wellness * Home and garden products * Woodworking * Landscaping You do not need experience in every one of these areas. Strong research skills and the ability to quickly understand a new topic are more important. You should also be comfortable making your own content and SEO decisions rather than relying on a detailed brief for every article. ## Writing samples Please include **2–3 relevant writing samples** with your application. You will also need to adapt closely to the client's existing blog style rather than applying the same writing style to every project. ## Surfer SEO Experience with **Surfer SEO is strongly preferred**. You will be expected to use Surfer SEO when completing articles, including incorporating relevant recommended terms naturally without compromising readability or overall content quality. If you have used Surfer SEO before, please mention this in your application. ## Rates The starting rate for this role is approximately **$0.03 per word**. However, the final rate will depend on your experience, writing quality, research ability, and how closely your work matches what we are looking for. We are open to paying a higher rate for a writer who consistently produces strong, reliable work with minimal editorial intervention.
