Summary

True Crime Scriptwriter Summary Volume: 4–6 scripts per month (ongoing, recurring work) Length: 30–60 min (finished video runtime) Turnaround: [5–7 days per script from research/outline approval to final draft] About the Channel We produce long-form, narrated true crime videos in the style of channels like [reference]. Reference video for style/tone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ed_gLd34LyI We're looking for a long-term scriptwriter to help us consistently deliver 4–6 well-researched, tightly written scripts a month that our editing team can turn into high-quality uploads. What the Final Video Style Looks Like (So you understand what the script needs to set up for the edit) Voiceover-driven storytelling — the script carries the story; the edit supports and paces it, not the other way around A mix of real footage (bodycam, interrogation, news clips) intercut with stock footage, photos, and subtle motion — your script should be written with these visual beats in mind Clear structure around key facts, names, dates, and locations so they're easy to caption and display on screen Pacing that respects the emotional weight of the story — dramatic where it should be, restrained where it should be, never sensationalized for shock value A thumbnail-worthy hook in the first 15–30 seconds that pulls viewers in immediately Required 4+ years of experience writing scripts for YouTube, or long-form narrative video (true crime strongly preferred) Strong research skills — comfortable digging through court records, news archives, interviews, and primary sources to build an accurate timeline Excellent narrative writing — able to structure a true story into a compelling three-act arc with a strong hook, rising tension, and satisfying resolution Must Have Proven ability to write scripts timed for voiceover (i.e., you can estimate runtime and pace a script to hit a target length) A rigorous approach to fact-checking and sourcing — no fabrication, no unverified claims presented as fact Comfort writing about sensitive, real-world crime and victims with appropriate tone and care Responsibilities Write a full narrated script from that research, structured for a 30–60 minute finished video Open with a strong, thumbnail-worthy hook in the first 15–30 seconds Build tension and pacing through the writing itself — know where to slow down and where to move the story forward MAKE SURE - the script is well detailed for the editors to follow and know when to add motion graphic or animations like the refernce video above. Flag key facts, names, dates, and locations clearly so the editing team can support them visually Note suggested b-roll, footage, or photo opportunities where helpful for the edit (not required, but a plus) Fact-check your own work and be able to cite sources on request Take feedback on 1–2 rounds of revisions per script within a reasonable turnaround What We're Looking For A portfolio or writing samples with at least one true crime, documentary, or narrative long-form script (produced videos/channel links welcome) Strong sense of story structure and pacing — you understand how to build tension on the page, not just recount events Comfort working with real/found source material ) and turning it into a cohesive narrative Clean, professional writing — minimal editing needed before a script is handed to voiceover/production Reliable communication and the ability to hit deadlines on a recurring monthly schedule How to Apply Please send: Solid proof that you've written scripts for a successful channel or successful videos (1M+ views on a video using your script) A link to your portfolio/writing samples (true crime or narrative documentary scripts preferred) Your availability to commit to 4–6 scripts/month on an ongoing basis
