External Financial Statement Auditors — Help Build Tests for AI (Ongoing)
Worldwide
We're building tests that measure whether AI systems can actually do real audit work — and we need people who do that work for a living to design them. Most AI benchmarks for finance are written by people who have never vouched a sample, cleared a review note, or defended a judgement to a partner. The result is tests that look impressive and prove nothing. We're trying to fix that, and it only works if the tasks come from people who have done the job. Scope is the external audit of financial statements, including SOX/ICFR controls testing where it forms part of an integrated issuer audit. Internal audit as a function, IT audit, SOC and forensic are out of scope. What you'd actually do: - Take a piece of work you've genuinely done — a test of details, a sampling approach, a walkthrough, a review note — and turn it into a task an AI system has to attempt - Define what "correct" looks like, and just as importantly, what a plausible-looking wrong answer looks like - Review tasks other auditors have written and flag anything that wouldn't survive a real file review Audit has an unusual advantage here: the profession already runs on documented procedures and review notes, so what we need you to write has a natural analogue in work you already produce. This is not a one-off. We have over 10,000 tasks to work through and we're bringing on up to 100 practitioners to do it. Individual tasks pay between $50 and $250 depending on complexity, and there is steady ongoing work for people whose tasks hold up well. Who we're looking for — every level from first-year associate to partner: - External audit associates (including first and second year — the testing work is exactly what we need), seniors, managers and partners - Specialist auditors: single audit / governmental, nonprofit, employee benefit plan, bank and credit union, insurance statutory, broker-dealer - SOX / ICFR controls testers, audit data analytics specialists, technical accounting, and valuation specialists supporting audit - Quality control and inspection remediation, including PCAOB response work - Practice experience at a registered audit firm (any size, from Big 4 to regional) - Able to write clearly enough that another auditor could follow your task exactly - 10+ hours a week you can spend on this Important: you'd author from representative examples you construct yourself. Never real client workpapers, PBC material, or confidential engagement data. Paid per task completed. We work with 100+ practitioners, so everything runs async and in writing — no meetings. To apply, answer the questions below. We read every answer — the question about junior mistakes matters more to us than your years of experience.
