Fast-Growing Arabic Quiz Game – Arabic Question Manager, Developer & UI/UX Designer

Posted 6 days ago

Worldwide

Summary

We are looking for **serious, experienced professionals to join the long-term team behind a fast-growing Arabic competitive quiz game**. The product is already **fully developed, live, and being used by a large and growing number of real players**. This is not an idea, prototype, or project starting from zero. We already have: * A live game * A large and growing user base * Existing gameplay systems * A large existing question database * Many active categories * Administration tools * Real player feedback and question reports * Ongoing development * An established product that we want to continue improving and scaling We are now looking for experienced people who can understand the existing product, take ownership of their area, improve it, maintain it, and help us grow it professionally over the long term. We are mainly looking for: * **Arabic Question / Content Manager** * **Experienced Full-Stack Developer** * **Experienced UI/UX / Product Designer** Experience with **games, consumer applications, entertainment products, interactive platforms, or other live digital products** is highly preferred. This is intended to become a **long-term working relationship**, not just a one-time freelance task. --- # About the Game The product is an **Arabic competitive quiz game** designed mainly for friends, families, gatherings, and competitive group play. Players compete in teams by answering questions from different categories. Categories include areas such as: * General Knowledge * Football * Kuwait * GCC Entertainment * Arabic Entertainment * International TV Series * Movies * History * Geography * Sports * Brands * Culture * And many more Arabic is the main language of the game, and a major part of our audience is from **Kuwait and the GCC**. The game already has a **large and fast-growing player base**, so everyone joining the team needs to understand that they will be working on a real live product used by real people. The game currently has **two main question systems**. --- # Question System 1 – Top 10 The first system contains questions with **10 ranked correct answers**. Instead of having only one correct answer, players try to discover answers from a ranked list of ten. For example, a question may ask players to identify the Top 10 based on a specific statistic, achievement, ranking, or measurable criterion. The scoring works like this: * 1st answer = 100 points * 2nd answer = 200 points * 3rd answer = 300 points * 4th answer = 400 points * 5th answer = 500 points * 6th answer = 600 points * 7th answer = 700 points * 8th answer = 800 points * 9th answer = 900 points * 10th answer = 1000 points The less obvious answers are generally worth more points. Each Top 10 question also includes **3 believable traps**. A trap should be something a player could realistically believe belongs in the Top 10, but actually does not. For this format, accuracy is extremely important. The Question Manager must verify: * The correct Top 10 * The exact ranking * Ranking criteria * Statistics * Dates * Ties * Reliable sources * Traps * Arabic wording We do not accept guessed rankings or rankings that have not been properly researched. --- # Question System 2 – Easy, Medium & Hard The second format uses normal quiz questions divided into three difficulty levels. ### Easy – 200 Points Questions that players with reasonable knowledge of the category should have a good chance of answering. ### Medium – 400 Points Questions requiring stronger knowledge of the subject. ### Hard – 600 Points Questions designed for players who know the category very well. Hard questions should still be **fair and answerable**. We do not want random or impossible trivia simply because a question is supposed to be difficult. Every question includes: * The question * Correct answer * Difficulty level * A useful hint * Two believable traps * Reliable source or reference The difficulty must also be balanced correctly. --- # Position 1 – Arabic Question / Content Manager This is one of the **most important positions in the entire project**. ## Fluent Arabic is REQUIRED. ## The candidate must currently be based in the GCC. ### Candidates based in Kuwait are strongly preferred. We want someone who genuinely understands our audience. This means understanding areas such as: * Kuwait * GCC culture * Arabic entertainment * Gulf television * Football * Sports * Movies and series * General knowledge * Popular culture * Current trends * The type of questions Arabic and GCC players actually enjoy We are **not looking for someone who simply translates foreign trivia into Arabic**. We want someone with a real background that is relevant to the position. Relevant experience may include: * Quiz or trivia content * Research * Arabic content creation * Journalism * Media * Sports content * Entertainment content * Fact-checking * Editorial work * Game content * Educational content * Content management * Knowledge-based digital content You do not necessarily need to have previously worked specifically for a quiz game, but you should have a background that shows you can **research, verify information, write properly, understand an audience, and manage content professionally**. We strongly prefer candidates with **real professional or content experience**. --- # The Question Manager Will Actually Build the Questions This is not simply a reviewing position. You will be the person responsible for **building, managing, maintaining, and improving the question database**. Your responsibilities include: * Creating new questions * Researching new categories * Suggesting new categories * Building Top 10 questions * Building easy questions * Building medium questions * Building hard questions * Researching correct answers * Finding reliable sources * Verifying facts * Writing useful hints * Creating believable traps * Checking Arabic wording * Checking spelling * Checking difficulty * Preventing duplicate questions * Updating old questions * Fixing incorrect questions * Maintaining existing categories * Reviewing questions before publication * Monitoring question quality after publication * Expanding the question database continuously * Organizing content properly * Helping decide which categories should be developed next We want the Question Manager to eventually be able to manage the content side of the product with **increasing independence**. The goal is to have someone we can trust to take real ownership of the question operation. --- # You Are Responsible for Question Accuracy The Question Manager will be the main person responsible for the **accuracy and quality of the question database**. If a question contains: * A wrong answer * An incorrect ranking * An outdated statistic * Incorrect information * An incorrect trap * A weak or misleading hint * Incorrect difficulty * Bad Arabic wording * A spelling mistake * Duplicate content * A weak source * Missing information * Any other content-related mistake You will be responsible for **investigating and correcting it**. Players can also report questions while using the game. The Question Manager will be responsible for **regularly reviewing player reports**. This includes: * Reviewing incoming reports * Investigating reported questions * Researching the subject again * Checking reliable sources * Deciding whether a report is valid * Fixing incorrect questions * Updating outdated questions * Improving unclear wording * Fixing hints * Fixing traps * Correcting difficulty levels * Making sure reported problems are properly resolved We do not want someone who creates a batch of questions and then considers the job finished. ### Maintaining the existing question database is just as important as creating new questions. If players find a mistake, we need someone who will take responsibility for investigating it instead of ignoring it. The Question Manager should continuously monitor the quality of the database and keep it accurate. --- # Specialized Categories We understand that one person cannot be an expert in every subject. For example, you may know a lot about: * Football * Kuwait * Arabic entertainment * Movies * General knowledge But you may know very little about: * Game of Thrones * Anime * Formula 1 * A particular video game * A specialized sport * A specific historical period * Another niche subject That is completely fine. We would rather you **admit that you do not know a category** than pretend to understand it and create poor-quality questions. When a specialized category requires knowledge you do not personally have, an **additional specialist contributor can be brought in for that category**. The approved additional cost for specialist contributors will be handled by us and is not expected to come from the Question Manager's compensation. However, as the Question Manager, you will still be responsible for managing the final quality. You should be able to: * Recognize when a specialist is needed * Help identify an appropriate specialist * Explain our question formats * Review their questions * Check their answers * Check their sources * Check their Arabic * Check the hints * Check the traps * Check the difficulty * Check for duplicates * Approve the final content before publication The goal is for the Question Manager to eventually **manage the entire question-content operation**. --- # IMPORTANT – Do Not Apply If You Depend Mainly on AI Please read this carefully before applying. ### If AI is doing the majority of your work, please DO NOT APPLY. We are not against AI. AI tools can be useful for: * Brainstorming * Organizing ideas * Finding possible topics * Improving wording * Increasing productivity * Assisting with research However, AI is **not a replacement for research, experience, knowledge, judgment, or fact-checking**. We specifically do not want someone whose workflow is: 1. Ask an AI tool to create questions 2. Copy the questions 3. Copy the answers 4. Submit everything without properly checking it That is not acceptable. If an AI tool suggests a question, **you are still personally responsible for verifying every part of it**. This includes: * The question itself * Correct answer * Dates * Names * Statistics * Rankings * Sources * Traps * Hints * Difficulty * Arabic wording You must independently check information using reliable sources. ### If the majority of your research is being done through AI and you are not personally checking the results, please do not apply. We want someone with: * Real knowledge * Research ability * Judgment * Cultural understanding * Attention to detail * Curiosity * Experience * Responsibility AI can assist you. AI **cannot be doing your job for you**. The Question Manager will ultimately be responsible for mistakes in the question database, so you must be confident in your own research and verification process. --- # Position 2 – Experienced Full-Stack Developer We need an experienced developer who can work with an **existing live product and existing codebase**. The current technology includes areas such as: * React * NextJS * Firebase * Firestore * APIs * Modern web application development Responsibilities may include: * Understanding the existing codebase * Maintaining the live product * Fixing bugs * Debugging production issues * Developing new features * Improving existing features * Improving performance * Improving scalability * Improving stability * Improving database structure * Improving mobile experience * Improving desktop experience * Developing administration tools * Working with the Question Manager * Working with the UI/UX Designer * Safely releasing updates to a product with active users We especially want someone who has experience working on **real production applications with real users**. Experience with the following is highly valuable: * Real-time applications * Multiplayer systems * Games * Firebase * Firestore * React * NextJS * Consumer applications * Performance optimization * Scalable web applications We are not looking for someone whose only experience is creating basic demo projects. We want someone who understands what it means to work on a **live product where changes can affect real users**. --- # Development and AI AI-assisted coding tools are completely acceptable. However, we do **not** want a developer who depends entirely on AI-generated code without understanding it. The developer must understand: * The existing code * Application architecture * Debugging * Production issues * Databases * Performance * Testing * Safe deployments * Maintainable code The developer must be able to diagnose problems independently and take responsibility for anything changed or deployed. AI can increase productivity. It cannot replace actual development knowledge and experience. --- # Position 3 – Experienced UI/UX / Product Designer We are looking for someone who understands **product design and user experience**, not only visual design. We do not simply want someone who can make screens look prettier. We want someone who can understand how people use the product, study the existing experience, identify problems, and suggest meaningful improvements. Responsibilities may include: * Reviewing the existing user experience * Understanding how players move through the game * Improving onboarding * Improving navigation * Improving category selection * Improving gameplay screens * Improving mobile usability * Improving desktop usability * Improving visual hierarchy * Creating designs and prototypes * Identifying confusing parts of the experience * Removing unnecessary steps * Improving engagement * Improving retention * Making the game easier to understand * Working closely with the developer * Suggesting product improvements proactively Experience with **games, entertainment products, consumer apps, or interactive platforms** is highly preferred. We want someone who can explain **why a UX change should improve the user experience**, not someone who simply redesigns screens without understanding the product. We especially value designers who have experience improving an **existing live product**, rather than only designing new concepts from scratch. --- # We Want Experienced People This applies to all three positions. ### We are not looking for beginners. We want people with real, relevant experience. We value people who: * Take ownership * Communicate clearly * Are reliable * Pay attention to details * Can work independently * Can collaborate with others * Understand live products * Can identify problems * Can suggest solutions * Care about quality * Think about the overall product * Want a long-term opportunity * Can become more independent as trust develops We do not want people who need extremely detailed instructions for every small task. If you notice a problem, tell us. If you believe something can be improved, suggest it. If you disagree with something, explain why. If you believe there is a better solution, we want to hear it. We want people who **think, contribute, take responsibility, and help improve the product**. --- # Language & Location ### Question / Content Manager * Fluent Arabic is mandatory * Must currently be based in the GCC * Kuwait-based candidates are strongly preferred * Strong understanding of the Kuwait/GCC audience is required * A relevant content, research, media, trivia, journalism, entertainment, sports, editorial, or similar background is highly preferred ### Developer Arabic is preferred but not mandatory if you have strong technical experience. ### UI/UX Designer Arabic is preferred, especially because this is an Arabic product. Experience with Arabic interfaces, RTL design, games, and consumer products is a major advantage. --- # Initial Budget & Long-Term Compensation The initial fixed-price contract is **$200**. ### Please understand that $200 is ONLY the initial paid trial. This is **not the permanent budget for the position**. We are using the initial contract to find the right people and evaluate how well we work together. During the trial, we will evaluate things such as: * Quality of work * Experience * Communication * Reliability * Speed * Accuracy * Understanding of the product * Independence * Ability to solve problems * Teamwork * Attention to detail * Ability to take ownership * Ability to contribute useful ideas * Overall value brought to the project ### Compensation will increase over time for the right people. We want to reward people based on the **quality and value of their work**. The better you perform, the more responsibility you can handle, and the more valuable you become to the project, the more opportunity there will be for your compensation to increase. Someone who consistently: * Produces excellent work * Makes fewer mistakes * Communicates well * Works independently * Solves problems * Takes ownership * Helps improve the product * Handles more responsibility * Saves the team time * Contributes valuable ideas should expect to have **more responsibility and higher compensation over time**. We are not looking for the cheapest freelancers. We are looking for the **right people**. If someone proves that they are highly valuable to the project, we are willing to increase their budget accordingly. The initial $200 is simply the **starting point and trial stage**. If the relationship is successful: * Compensation can increase * The workload can increase * Responsibilities can increase * The relationship can become ongoing * Bonuses or additional paid responsibilities may be considered * The position can potentially develop into a much larger long-term role For exceptional people who become important to the project, the opportunity can grow significantly over time. ### The better you are, the more value you bring, and the more responsibility you can handle, the more you can earn. We are building a **long-term team around an already-live and fast-growing product**, and we want compensation to grow together with performance, responsibility, and the growth of the game. --- # When Applying Please **do not send a generic proposal**. We want to understand your actual background, experience, and what you personally can bring to the project. Please answer: 1. Where are you currently based? 2. What languages do you speak? 3. Which position are you applying for? 4. Are you applying individually or as part of a team? 5. How many years of relevant experience do you have? 6. What similar projects have you worked on? 7. Have you worked on a live product with real users? 8. Please include relevant examples of previous work through your Upwork profile or proposal. 9. Explain what you personally did on those projects. 10. What do you believe you can bring to this project? 11. Are you comfortable joining and improving an existing live product? 12. Are you interested in a long-term position if the initial trial goes well? --- ## If Applying as the Question / Content Manager Please also answer: * Where in the GCC are you currently based? * What is your professional/content background? * How strong is your Arabic? * What experience do you have with research? * Have you worked with trivia, games, media, journalism, sports, entertainment, fact-checking, educational content, or similar work? * Which categories are you personally strongest in? * Which categories are you weakest in? * How do you verify information before publishing it? * What types of sources do you normally use? * How would you handle a player reporting that one of your questions is incorrect? * Are you comfortable taking responsibility for question mistakes? * Are you comfortable regularly reviewing and resolving player reports? * Are you comfortable managing specialist contributors when required? * How do you currently use AI in your work? * Approximately how much of your current workflow depends on AI? * Are you comfortable independently researching and verifying everything even when AI is used? Again: ### If AI is doing most of your work and you are mainly copying AI-generated research, questions, answers, rankings, or content without independently verifying everything, please do not apply. --- ## If Applying as a Developer Please include information about your experience with: * React * NextJS * Firebase * Firestore * Existing production codebases * Debugging * Performance * Scalability * Real-time applications * Games or multiplayer systems * Live consumer products Please explain what you personally built, maintained, improved, or were responsible for on the projects you provide. --- ## If Applying as a UI/UX Designer Please include: * Relevant portfolio work * Examples of live products you designed * Game or consumer-app experience * Experience improving existing products * Experience with Arabic or RTL interfaces if applicable * How you normally identify UX problems * Examples where your UX work improved an existing user journey * How you approach retention, engagement, and usability --- We are looking for **serious, experienced professionals who want to understand the product, take ownership, contribute ideas, improve it, and grow with us long-term**. The game is already live, already has a **large and fast-growing player base**, and we are now looking for the right people to help take it to the next stage. The initial contract is only the beginning. **If you prove your value, take responsibility, produce high-quality work, and help the product grow, there is significant room for your role and compensation to grow with it.** **Important clarification:** This is **not an online multiplayer game** where players connect remotely and play against each other. It is a **trivia/quiz game designed for people playing together in the same gathering or room**, usually in teams. The game manages the questions, scoring, categories, rounds, and gameplay experience, but it should not be confused with a traditional online multiplayer game.
