Final Draft Script Formatter/ Screenplay Editor

We are seeking an experienced Screenplay Formatter / Final Draft Specialist to take a completed feature screenplay currently written in Microsoft Word and professionally transfer it into Final Draft, bringing the entire document into industry-standard screenplay format. This is not a rewriting or developmental editing position. The story, dialogue, characters, and creative voice are already established. The primary goal is to create a clean, polished, professionally formatted Final Draft screenplay that is ready for submission and production consideration. Responsibilities Transfer the complete screenplay from Microsoft Word into Final Draft Format the screenplay according to professional feature-film screenplay standards Correctly format: Scene headings / sluglines Action / description Character names Dialogue Parentheticals Transitions Inserts and other screenplay elements Break up and format action paragraphs so they read naturally and visually on the page while preserving the writer's meaning and voice Correct obvious formatting inconsistencies created during the Word-to-Final Draft conversion Ensure proper margins, spacing, pagination, scene formatting, and screenplay conventions throughout Maintain consistency in character names, scene headings, locations, and formatting Flag obvious typos or inconsistencies when encountered, without substantially rewriting the material Deliver both the completed Final Draft (.fdx) file and a properly formatted PDF Scope of Editing This project requires light editorial judgment specifically as it relates to screenplay formatting and readability. For example, a long block of action written in Word may need to be divided into shorter action paragraphs or adjusted into proper screenplay presentation. However, we are not looking for someone to rewrite dialogue, change scenes, develop characters, restructure the story, or substantially alter the writer's language. The goal is: Preserve the writing. Perfect the screenplay formatting. Ideal Candidate Highly experienced with Final Draft Strong knowledge of professional U.S. feature screenplay formatting Experience converting scripts from Microsoft Word into Final Draft Excellent attention to detail Understands how action/description should appear and flow on a professional screenplay page Comfortable working on a full-length feature screenplay Able to preserve the writer's voice rather than unnecessarily rewriting material Experience preparing screenplays for producers, agents, managers, competitions, or industry submission is a plus When Applying Please include: Your experience formatting feature screenplays in Final Draft Examples of similar Word-to-Final-Draft projects, if available Your estimated turnaround time Your rate for a complete feature screenplay Confirmation that you can provide the finished .fdx and PDF files Important: This is primarily a formatting and screenplay presentation job, not a creative rewrite or developmental edit.
