Summary

We’re looking for a hands-on finance professional with deep experience in financial modeling, accounting, SEC filings, and complex financial-data workflows. This is an execution-oriented role for someone who can build detailed models, extract and spread financial data, reconcile inconsistent information, and create reliable processes that others can operate. The ideal candidate has completed numerous sophisticated financial-analysis projects, including LBO and DCF models, public-company comparable analyses, precedent-transaction analyses, and detailed financial statement spreading from SEC filings. You must be highly familiar with U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, financial-statement presentation, and the relationships among the income statement, balance sheet, and cash-flow statement. This work will often involve messy source data, complicated assumptions, multiple systems and spreadsheets, evolving requirements, and many rounds of review. We need someone who is methodical, persistent, and comfortable spending weeks or months refining a model or workflow until it is accurate, auditable, and dependable. What You’ll Do - Build and maintain detailed three-statement financial models - Create DCF, LBO, merger, accretion/dilution, and other transaction models - Perform public-company comparable and precedent-transaction analyses - Build valuation outputs, including enterprise-value bridges, trading ranges, returns analyses, sensitivities, and scenario analyses - Spread historical financial statements from SEC filings into standardized models and databases - Extract and interpret data from Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, S-1, proxy statements, earnings releases, investor presentations, and footnote disclosures - Normalize reported financials for nonrecurring items, accounting differences, acquisitions, divestitures, stock-based compensation, leases, and other company-specific adjustments - Analyze revenue, margins, working capital, capital expenditures, debt, cash flow, and other operating and financial drivers - Reconcile financial data across SEC filings, company presentations, ERP systems, internal reports, spreadsheets, and third-party data sources - Clean, standardize, and manipulate large or poorly structured datasets in Excel - Develop repeatable data pipelines and automated workflows for financial spreading, reporting, analysis, and model updates - Create quality-control checks, audit trails, exception reports, and review procedures Financial Modeling Experience Candidates should have substantial prior experience with: - Integrated three-statement financial modeling - Discounted cash flow analysis - Leveraged buyout modeling and debt schedules - Public-company comparable analysis - Precedent-transaction analysis - Merger and acquisition modeling - Accretion and dilution analysis - Operating models, forecasts, and budgets - Scenario, sensitivity, and returns analysis Models must be logically structured and capable of handling changing assumptions without breaking. Candidates should understand how to design models with clear inputs, calculation sections, validation checks, outputs, and supporting schedules. SEC and Accounting Knowledge You should be highly familiar with: - U.S. GAAP and core financial-accounting principles - SEC financial reporting and disclosure requirements - The structure and content of SEC filings - Income statements, balance sheets, cash-flow statements, and statements of stockholders’ equity - Financial-statement footnotes and management’s discussion and analysis - Revenue recognition, cost classification, working capital, leases, debt, equity, acquisitions, impairment, and stock-based compensation - GAAP versus non-GAAP measures and company-defined adjustments - Segment reporting and changes in accounting presentation - Restatements, reclassifications, discontinued operations, and pro forma financial information - XBRL data and the limitations of automated financial-data extraction - Proper sourcing, traceability, and documentation of financial information Experience preparing SEC filings is helpful, but the central requirement is the ability to read, interpret, extract, normalize, and reconcile information from public-company disclosures accurately. Technical and Automation Experience Strong Excel expertise is essential, including advanced formulas, financial modeling, data validation, error checking, pivot tables, Power Query, and large-dataset manipulation. Experience with several of the following is preferred: - Capital IQ, Bloomberg, FactSet, PitchBook, Refinitiv, or similar financial-data platforms - SEC EDGAR and XBRL data - Power BI, Tableau, or other reporting tools - SQL, Python, VBA, JavaScript, or Google Apps Script - APIs, JSON, webhooks, ETL processes, and data pipelines - ERP, consolidation, accounting, and financial-planning systems - AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar platforms Ideal Background - Five or more years of experience in investment banking, private equity, transaction advisory, valuation, equity research, corporate development, FP&A, public accounting, financial consulting, or a related field - Extensive hands-on experience building complex financial and valuation models - Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC filings, and public-company financial reporting - Demonstrated ability to spread and normalize financial statements from SEC documents - Advanced Excel and financial-data manipulation skills - Experience completing complex, multi-phase projects—not simply reviewing or recommending work - CPA, CFA, MBA, or relevant transaction and valuation experience is preferred but not required
