Fractional CTO – AI SaaS / Heavy-Duty Truck Industry

We are a technology company currently developing an AI-powered SaaS product for the heavy-duty truck dealership industry, with an initial focus on improving and automating the warranty claims process. We already have a development agency responsible for the execution and coding of the platform. We’re looking for an experienced Fractional CTO to act as a strategic technical advisor, helping us make the right product, architecture, AI, and scalability decisions as the product evolves. ⸻ Role Responsibilities * Participate in selected client discovery sessions and help translate business requirements into technical solutions * Advise on overall technology, product architecture, and technical strategy * Review and challenge architectural proposals from our development partner * Guide the design and scalability of the SaaS platform * Support the integration of AI/ML and LLM components * Oversee technical quality and alignment of work delivered by our development partner * Participate in technical discussions with client IT teams when needed ⸻ Important This is a strategic CTO role, not a software development engagement. We already have a development agency in place. We are looking for an independent advisor to guide, review, and challenge technical decisions, not to provide coding resources. If your objective is to sell development hours or transition the development work to your own agency, this opportunity is not a fit. ⸻ Required Expertise * 10+ years in senior technology roles (CTO, VP Engineering, Head of Engineering, etc.) * Strong SaaS and cloud architecture experience (AWS/GCP/Azure) * Experience with AI/ML, LLMs, and modern AI integrations * Experience building and scaling SaaS products * Strong architecture review and technical decision-making skills * Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders Nice to have: * Experience scaling or exiting a technology startup * Experience with B2B vertical SaaS or workflow automation *Experience in the truck/transportation industry ⸻ Commitment * Fractional / part-time (approx. 3–8 hrs per week) * Flexible schedule * Long-term collaboration potential ⸻ Please Include in Your Proposal * Short introduction & background * Examples of SaaS or AI products you have architected * Relevant CTO / technical leadership experience * Cloud and AI/LLM experience * Confirmation that you are applying as a strategic advisor, not to sell development services * Hourly rate and availability
