Fractional Finance Director (FD) – UK Logistics SME | Xero & Cashflow
Worldwide
We are looking for an experienced UK Fractional Finance Director to work with London Delivery Network (LDN), a growing logistics business. We already have bookkeeping/accounting support and a rolling treasury/cashflow system. I now want an experienced FD who can come into the business, review the numbers and introduce the level of financial management and commercial oversight you would expect from a good SME Finance Director. This is not a bookkeeping role. I need someone who can help me understand and control: * Cashflow and 13-week treasury forecasting * Weekly financial performance * Customer and contract profitability * Gross margins and contribution * Vehicle/fleet and operational costs * Debtors, creditors and working capital * Budgets and rolling forecasts * Management accounts * VAT/tax provisions and upcoming liabilities * Financial risks and upcoming cash pressures * Pricing and commercial decisions * Monthly management/board reporting We use Xero, alongside operational spreadsheets/data. Initially, I want you to approach LDN as though you have just joined as its Finance Director: review how the company operates, assess our existing financial information and treasury, identify what is missing, and establish what I should be reviewing daily, weekly and monthly as Managing Director. I am particularly interested in people who have worked with owner-managed SMEs where cashflow, working capital and profitability need active management. Logistics experience would be useful but is not essential. Please include in your proposal: 1. Your FD/CFO experience. 2. Typical size of businesses you’ve worked with. 3. Your experience with Xero and 13-week cashflow forecasting. 4. An example where you identified a profitability or cashflow problem and helped management address it. 5. Your proposed approach for your first 30 days with LDN. Please start your proposal with “LDN FD” so I know you’ve read the brief. This will begin as a fractional/part-time engagement, with the potential for ongoing work if we work well together.
