Freelance Accountant (UAE / IFRS Expert) – Prepare Initial Financial Statements from Excel

Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced UAE-based or UAE-knowledgeable accountant to convert our detailed Excel transaction records into a complete set of draft financial statements for our initial extended financial period (September 11, 2024 to December 31, 2025). We are a startup and had a very limited number of transactions during the in itial year (around 350 bank transactions, many between bank accounts; maybe 150 invoices & sales receipts). The output must strictly comply with IFRS / IFRS for SMEs and UAE Corporate Tax / Meydan Free Zone Authority (MFZA) reporting standards, formatted and ready for submission to our MFZA-approved external auditor for sign-off. Key Responsibilities 1. Transaction & Trial Balance Review: o Review and convert our Excel transaction log into an IFRS-compliant General Ledger and Trial Balance (accrual basis). o Perform necessary year-end accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and adjusting journal entries for the extended first accounting period (15.5 months). o Ensure proper categorization of operational expenses, capital assets, and non-operating/finance items (e.g., bank interest, FX gains/losses). 2. Preparation of Complete Draft Financial Statements: o Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet) as of December 31, 2025. o Statement of Profit or Loss & Comprehensive Income (P&L) for the period Sept 11, 2024 – Dec 31, 2025. o Statement of Cash Flows (Indirect/Direct method). o Statement of Changes in Equity. o Comprehensive Notes to the Financial Statements (Summary of significant accounting policies, disclosures, and breakdown of key line items required by auditors). 3. Auditor Liaison Readiness: o Ensure working papers, lead schedules, and reconciliations (Bank, VAT, Revenue) are audit-ready. o Briefly address and incorporate feedback/adjustments requested by our external auditor prior to final signing. Candidate Qualifications & Requirements • Proven Expertise: Strong background in UAE accounting, corporate tax compliance, and IFRS standards. • Free Zone & Audit Experience: Prior experience preparing financial statements for UAE Free Zone companies (Meydan Free Zone experience preferred). • Advanced Excel: Master-level Excel skills for clean working papers, formula auditing, and seamless lead schedule creation. • Accuracy & Compliance: Understanding of UAE Corporate Tax laws (including extended/long initial tax period rules and Qualifying Free Zone Person requirements). Deliverables • Fully editable Excel workbook containing: Chart of Accounts, General Ledger, Adjusted Trial Balance, and Lead Schedules. • Professional Word/Excel draft of the complete IFRS Financial Statements (including full Disclosure Notes) formatted for the audit package.
