Freelance Illustrator — Botanical & Lifestyle Art

Job title Freelance Botanical Illustrator for a Stationery and Lifestyle Brand Job description We are a design-led stationery and lifestyle brand creating thoughtful paper goods, gifting products and home accessories inspired by flowers, everyday rituals and poetic storytelling. We are looking for a freelance botanical illustrator to create original flower illustrations for products such as bookmarks, postcards, journals, notepads, wrapping paper, gift tags, wall art, tote bags, textiles and packaging. This is an illustration-focused role rather than a general graphic design role. Illustration style Our visual style is: Hand-drawn and botanical Coloured-pencil or a convincing digital coloured-pencil finish Warm, nostalgic and slightly imperfect Muted, natural and sun-faded in colour Rich in visible pencil grain and directional shading Organic and asymmetrical in composition Detailed, but never overcrowded Poetic, literary and quietly playful The artwork should not look like generic floral clip art, clean vector artwork, glossy digital painting or mass-produced AI imagery. Detailed visual guides, flower references and creative briefs will be provided. Scope of work The illustrator may be required to: Create original illustrations of Indian and tropical flowers Accurately capture the anatomy and character of each flower Follow an established brand illustration style consistently Develop isolated flowers, leaves, stems and complete compositions Adapt artwork to different product dimensions and formats Incorporate feedback and revisions accurately Prepare organised, high-resolution and print-ready files Initial project The first project will involve creating a small collection of botanical illustrations based on an existing visual style guide. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to complete a small paid test illustration before the larger project is awarded. There is potential for regular, ongoing work across future collections for the right illustrator. Expected deliverables Depending on the assignment, deliverables may include: High-resolution PNG or TIFF files Transparent-background files where required Layered PSD or Procreate source files Print-ready CMYK files where applicable Clearly organised and labelled layers Editable source files Full commercial usage rights Ideal freelancer You should have: A strong portfolio in botanical, editorial, product or lifestyle illustration Excellent observational drawing skills Experience creating textured and hand-drawn artwork A strong understanding of composition, colour and negative space Proficiency in Procreate, Adobe Photoshop or similar software The ability to follow an existing illustration style closely Experience preparing artwork for print or physical products Clear communication and reliable turnaround times Openness to detailed feedback and revisions Traditional-medium artists are also welcome to apply, provided they can professionally scan, clean and prepare high-resolution print-ready files.
