Mrs Wordsmith is a literacy and educational publishing company. We have recently automated our monthly SEO reporting and data analysis using a custom AI agent (Manus). Manus automatically fetches data from Google Search Console and GA4, builds a multi-page monthly performance report, investigates ranking drops, and generates a prioritised Action Plan with specific tasks (e.g., meta rewrites, content briefs). Our internal team (Content Manager and Web Developers) handles the actual execution of these tasks. What we need We are looking for an experienced SEO consultant to act as our "human in the loop." We do not need an agency to build reports from scratch or execute content. We need a sharp, strategic reviewer to sense-check the AI-generated Action Plan once a month, catch anything it missed, and provide strategic oversight. Time estimate is 2 hours per month (asynchronous review + occasional call) Responsibilities Monthly Async Review (1 hour): Read the AI-generated SEO report and Action Plan (provided in ClickUp/Google Docs) on the 3rd of each month. Validation & Adjustment: Leave comments approving the priorities, adjusting them based on your expertise, or flagging technical/strategic blind spots the AI may have missed. Strategic Escalation: Identify when a trend requires a deeper strategic discussion (e.g., a major algorithm update or a shift in search intent). Occasional Sync (30 mins): Jump on a call with the CEO and Content Manager only when strategic decisions are required. Ideal Profile Strong Technical SEO: You can spot indexing issues, JS rendering problems, or complex redirect chains that an AI might miss. E-commerce & Content Experience: Familiarity with Shopify and content-led SEO (blogs, free resources). AI-Comfortable: You are happy working asynchronously alongside an AI agent that does the heavy data lifting, focusing your time purely on high-value judgment calls. Direct & Pragmatic: You don't write 50-page slide decks. You leave 3 bullet points in a comment that save us from making a mistake. Application process We use a two-stage selection process. Stage 1 — Proposal and experience review Please include: 1.One relevant example of an SEO report, technical audit, or performance investigation you have previously completed, with any confidential information removed. 2.A brief description of your usual framework for investigating a sudden loss of Google Search Console impressions across several important pages. Please describe your general approach or refer to previous experience; do not analyse our sample report or perform any new work at this stage. 3.Your availability, hourly rate, and experience reviewing AI-generated SEO analysis. Stage 2 — Short paid evaluation task We expect to shortlist up to 5 candidates. Each shortlisted candidate who accepts the evaluation will receive a separate fixed-price Upwork contract before beginning. The task is expected to take approximately 30–45 minutes and will involve reviewing a sample AI-generated SEO report and providing a concise response of no more than 200 words. Every candidate who submits the agreed evaluation task will receive the full fixed fee, regardless of whether they are selected for the ongoing engagement. No unpaid test work is requested.
