Frontend & API Developer (Next.js / Nest.js) — Contract

The role We're hiring a Frontend and API Developer to own our web frontend and the backend services behind it, with a particular focus on our resume tailoring and cover letter generation features. You'll be working across the full path — the interfaces users touch, the APIs underneath, and the LLM and document-rendering integrations that make those features work. What you'll do Build and maintain our web frontend in Next.js and React — components, routing, state, forms, responsive layout Build and maintain backend services and APIs in Nest.js and TypeScript — controllers, services, data models, validation, auth Own the resume tailoring feature end to end: creating, editing, tailoring and storing resumes Own cover letter generation: generation, editing, templating, versioning, export Integrate LLM providers, document rendering services and third-party APIs, handling failures, retries, rate limits and cost sensibly Work on schema design, migrations and query performance Write tests, logging and monitoring good enough to diagnose production failures Document what you build — runbooks, walkthroughs, and the reasoning behind non-obvious logic What we're looking for Strong production experience with Next.js, React, Nest.js and TypeScript Comfortable working across frontend and backend without needing a handoff Experience integrating LLM APIs and handling their failure modes Solid instincts on schema design and API contracts Writes things down. Documentation and recorded walkthroughs are a real deliverable here, not an afterthought Flags blockers early rather than at the deadline
