Full-Stack Designer/Developer Needed: Build Our Event Discovery Platform From an Existing Spec

Summary

I’m launching a website + app (bandprix) where users discover and win live music ticket giveaways. I need one person to both design and build it, this isn’t a design-only or dev-only role, you’ll be doing both. The direction is already decided, you’re not starting from a blank page. I have a complete design and development spec covering: • The brand concept: every event listed like an act on a lit venue marquee sign (warm, glowing, a little weathered, think a real theater marquee, not a sleek modern LED sign) • Rough layouts for every screen, both mobile and desktop, so the structure and information hierarchy are worked out. These are flat placeholder mockups, not final visual polish, that’s real design work you’ll still be doing • A full backend data model, business logic, and admin tool requirements, this part just needs to be built correctly, not redesigned. What “design” means for this role specifically: the flat mockups show layout only. You need to bring real visual craft, actual glow/lighting effects on the marquee elements, material depth, the aged/weathered quality described in the spec, not a literal copy of the flat reference images. A reference photo of a real marquee sign is included to show the actual target finish. What “development” means for this role: a fully functional Next.js + Supabase web app matching the data model and business logic in the attached spec, including account/auth, the favoriting and submission systems, the monthly giveaway mechanic (including its somewhat unusual entry-pool logic, detailed in full in the spec), and basic admin tooling for moderation and running the monthly drawing. Tech Stack (required) • Next.js, hosted on Vercel • Supabase (Postgres + auth) • Beehiiv integration for newsletter signup • Architected with a future React Native/Expo app port in mind (shared API/business logic layer, not logic baked into page components), the app follows soon after web launch Scope Summary (full detail in the attached spec) • Responsive site, fully functional on both mobile and desktop, not a mobile-only build with desktop as an afterthought • Screens: Giveaways feed, Event detail, Event News (list + individual post pages), Submit a Giveaway, Sign up/Login, Profile (with Active/Archived favorites and two stat counters), FAQ/Help/legal pages • Data model: Events, Giveaways (with a “Featured” pin per event), Favorites (tracked historically, not just a counter), Submissions (with duplicate flagging and an approval workflow) • Monthly giveaway mechanic: three entry paths (favoriting, approved submissions, and a one-time app-login bonus with a win cap), admin screen to run the drawing • Login gate: browsing is open, but any specific interaction (viewing an event, favoriting, entering) prompts account creation/login • Image handling: manual admin upload per event once usage rights are secured, clean fallback state otherwise What I’ll Provide • The full spec document (attached) • reference photos • Legal page copy (draft placeholders exist, final versions coming from a lawyer separately, but you’ll get real copy, not lorem ipsum) • All initial event/news content once the CMS is ready • Budget & Timeline • Budget: TBD • Timeline: open, propose your own based on the attached scope To Apply • Portfolio showing both visual design work and shipped Next.js/Supabase (or comparable stack) projects, this is a hybrid role and I want to see both sides • Confirmation you’ve reviewed the attached spec in full • Your honest read on whether the full scope is realistic at this budget, or which pieces you’d suggest phasing to a v2 to fit it, see me on scope trade-offs, don’t just say yes to everything There are plans to expand this into a full on event discovery platform that helps fans find tickets for less (so eventually there will be features like "deals" , presale codes, and other ways for people to get into shows without paying full price, but for now, it iwll just focus on events with ticket giveaways.
