Summary

We’re looking for a senior WordPress + WooCommerce full stack developer to lead the development, updating, and ongoing support of our new e-commerce website. This role will include building out the new site, improving and maintaining key WooCommerce functionality, troubleshooting shipping-related issues, performing QA testing across the site, fixing bugs, and providing post-launch support for any issues that arise after final development is complete. This is an active e-commerce business, so we need someone who works carefully and professionally, with a strong staging-first workflow, backups, testing procedures, clear documentation, and minimal downtime. Strong communication is important, and we expect short, clear progress updates throughout the project. Core responsibilities - New Website Development + Updates • Build and develop the new WordPress + WooCommerce website based on project requirements • Update existing functionality, layouts, and site components as needed throughout the development process • Ensure the site is built cleanly, efficiently, and with long-term maintainability in mind • Support ongoing improvements and refinements during the build process - Shipping Troubleshooting • Investigate and resolve shipping-related issues across the website • Diagnose inconsistencies with shipping rates, shipping methods, address handling, plugin conflicts, or shipping logic • Review logs, plugin settings, and WooCommerce shipping configurations to identify root causes • Implement permanent fixes and ensure shipping works reliably across devices and user flows - QA Testing • Perform full quality assurance testing across the website before launch • Test key flows including product pages, cart behavior, shipping rate retrieval, checkout, account creation, and order processing • Validate functionality across desktop and mobile devices • Identify issues proactively and resolve bugs before production release - Checkout Functionality • Build, improve, and stabilize the checkout experience • Ensure checkout works smoothly and consistently from cart to completed order • Troubleshoot issues related to sessions, caching conflicts, plugin conflicts, field validation, and overall flow reliability • Make sure account creation, shipping selection, payment flow, and order completion function correctly on all devices - Bug Fixing + Ongoing Support • Resolve bugs and technical issues discovered during development and testing • Provide support for site issues that arise after final development is complete • Troubleshoot and fix post-launch issues efficiently • Help maintain stability and performance once the new site is liveWhat we need from you • Develop and update the new website in a clean and professional manner • Perform testing, bug fixing, and troubleshooting throughout the project • Handle shipping and checkout issues with a strong debugging process • Use staging first before deploying changes to production • Document important updates, fixes, and implementation details • Provide ongoing support after development is complete for any issues that arise Required experience • Deep experience with WordPress and WooCommerce development • Strong understanding of WooCommerce checkout, shipping, cart, and product functionality • Strong PHP, WordPress architecture, and plugin troubleshooting experience • Front-end troubleshooting experience including JavaScript conflicts and responsive/mobile issues • Experience QA testing live e-commerce websites and fixing bugs thoroughly • Experience supporting production WooCommerce stores with care and minimal disruption Nice to have • Experience troubleshooting shipping plugins and carrier integrations • Experience with caching, optimization, and checkout-related exclusions • Experience debugging WooCommerce logs, order flows, and customer-facing issues • Experience with long-term WooCommerce maintenance and support Engagement • Immediate start ASAP • Scope includes full build-out of the new website, testing, bug fixing, and post-launch support • Ongoing support available after final development is complete • Please include your hourly rate and availability
