Full-Time B2B Marketing Communications Manager: Brand, Content, PR—US Commercial Real Estate FinTech
Worldwide
One person to own marketing communications end to end for a US commercial real estate financing platform — brand, content, the CEO's voice, PR, lifecycle and original research built on proprietary lending data. Full-time, 40 hours a week on fixed US Eastern hours, remote, Americas only. Contract-to-hire, with a paid work sample before anything is decided. ⦿ Who we are In market since 2020, HQ Miami. Brokers and borrowers post a deal once; qualified lenders compete to fund it. Thousands of lenders on the platform. In mid-2026 we launched self-serve subscription plans, and growth now depends on marketing actually working rather than on a sales team carrying every deal over the line. We have the product, the liquidity and the data. What we lack is a voice the industry recognizes and a communications engine that runs on a rhythm the market can set its watch by. We are a small, AI-native team. The Head of Marketing and the CEO are hands-on and the pace is a startup's pace. This is not a content-production role and it is not a support role. You are in the driver's seat. ⦿ What you own Brand, positioning and a messaging architecture across lenders, brokers and borrowers · Thought leadership and original research — a flagship quarterly report from proprietary deal data almost none of which has reached the market · The CEO's voice on LinkedIn and in bylines, at a standard he publishes without rewriting · Earned media and CRE trade relations, currently close to zero and all upside · A three-edition industry newsletter, product communications, blog, website copy, social and video, run as one calendar with one point of view · SEO and AI visibility — being the answer when a broker asks an AI assistant how to structure a bridge loan · Lifecycle copy from signup to first deal to paid plan · Go-to-market for every launch · Campaign strategy that our paid-media manager executes against · Customer proof — case studies, testimonials, G2 · Events and partner co-marketing · A weekly readout a CEO can read in three minutes and act on. Nothing on that list belongs to someone else. Where you need hands, you have them — a part-time paid-media manager, an automations lead who builds and sends what you spec, developers for product surfaces, and budget for specialist freelancers. You direct them. ⦿ First 90 days · Days 1–30: audit, publish the calendar, take over content and product communications, write our voice down, ship the quarterly industry report in your first fortnight. · Days 31–60: a messaging architecture for both sides of the marketplace, a content engine on a real cadence with search and AI visibility designed in, first earned-media pitches out, lifecycle rebuilt around activation rather than opens. · Days 61–90: measured lifts you can point at, the next report outlined, a function that runs on a documented rhythm instead of on heroics. ⦿ You · 3+ years in B2B marketing communications, at least one of them as the owner of communications at a company under 50 people — no agency behind you, no design team, nobody handing you briefs. · Hands-on experience in the last five years at a US commercial real estate company, lender, brokerage, PropTech, CRE media outlet or FinTech startup. You can explain DSCR to a broker in one sentence. · You have written under an executive's name and earned the right to have it published unedited. · You have owned an editorial calendar, and your portfolio has numbers in it. · AI-fluent in practice, not vocabulary: you have built a workflow — context files, prompts, a human edit layer — and you can say exactly when the model was wrong and what you never let it do. · Fluent, idiomatic American English at a level a CEO publishes first pass. Strong plus: two-sided marketplace or product-led growth experience · original research you shipped end to end · earned placements you pitched and landed yourself · Canva or Figma · Semrush or Search Atlas · ActiveCampaign, HubSpot, Salesforce or Attio · Webflow, Elementor or Framer. Not for you if you are an agency or have only worked agency-side, if your portfolio has no numbers in it, or if "familiar with AI tools" is the most specific thing you can say about AI. ⦿ Terms · 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, fixed 9am to 6pm US Eastern, paid weekly through Upwork with the Time Tracker on. · Contract-to-hire: a paid 30-day initial period against a written plan, then a direct role after a 90-day review. · Full-time from day one. Exclusive from day 31 — the initial period is yours to wind down other client work. · Hourly rate: state yours in the proposal. We pay for the seat and the path, not just the hours. · Location: the Americas only — United States, Canada or Latin America. Proposals from outside these regions are not considered. · You report to the Head of Marketing and work directly with the CEO on the executive voice. ⦿ Process Five screening questions — answer them properly, they are the screen → a 45-minute video call with a live writing and editing exercise → a paid work sample, $100 flat, three to four hours, identical brief for every finalist → 30 minutes with our CEO → offer. We reply to every complete proposal within 1–2 business days. ⦿ To apply Answer the five screening questions in your own words and link your portfolio. Then start your proposal with the channel you are weakest in and why, followed by your expected hourly rate. That's it — skip the paragraph about passion and let your portfolio speak for itself. Proposals that skip the opener are declined without review.
