Full-Time Legal Research Assistant for AI-Assisted New York Litigation

Summary

I am seeking a highly articulate legal research assistant for ongoing support in a complex, document-intensive New York commercial litigation matter. My current research assistant is transitioning to a law firm, so the selected candidate must be able to begin quickly, participate in an organized handover, and provide substantial bandwidth. The next several weeks may require 30 to 40 hours per week, with continuing work expected thereafter. Applicants whose existing employment or other commitments would prevent that level of availability should not apply. The work will include: * reviewing and organizing agreements, pleadings, transcripts, correspondence, chronologies, and evidence; * maintaining source-linked chronologies, evidence matrices, actor and issue tables, and document indexes; * reconciling factual assertions against underlying source documents; * conducting New York CPLR, case-law, procedural, docket, and authority research; * checking cases, quotations, citations, and current authority through reliable citator and docket resources; * preserving source traceability, approved language, and version control; * preparing clear counsel-facing research, procedural memoranda, document summaries, and draft court materials under counsel review; * and supporting a structured AI-assisted litigation-production workflow. The candidate may work within an architecture being established with a separate workflow consultant. Candidates who already operate a mature legal AI workflow are especially encouraged to apply. Experience with Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, document retrieval, legal databases, docket systems, Shepard’s, KeyCite, or comparable validation tools is strongly preferred. I am not looking merely for someone who knows how to enter prompts. I am interested in someone who understands how to use AI within a controlled legal workflow involving source attribution, factual verification, legal validation, document production, and defined human review. Required qualifications * Excellent written and spoken English * Legal education, paralegal training, or substantial legal-research experience * Experience supporting U.S. litigation * Strong document-management and source-control discipline * Ability to work independently while following detailed instructions * Significant immediate and ongoing availability * Responsiveness during part of the U.S. Eastern business day Compensation $8 to $20 per hour, depending on demonstrated legal experience, AI-workflow capability, writing quality, and independence. The engagement will begin with a short paid trial. A successful candidate may receive a guaranteed minimum weekly workload and an ongoing role. Please do not submit a generic AI-generated application. Specific examples of your actual legal and AI-workflow experience will receive priority.
