Summary

I am a litigant in person in a County Court claim against a UK local authority under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. I am looking for an experienced legal researcher, paralegal, or law graduate familiar with UK data protection law to help me prepare for the next stage of proceedings. Case background: Small claims track in the County Court at Kingston-upon-Thames £10,000 damages claim under Article 82 UK GDPR Dispute Resolution Hearing was held in July 2026; the Court rejected the Defendant's "vexatious" and "SLAPP" arguments and confirmed my right to bring the claim under section 167 DPA 2018 The Court has ordered the Defendant to file a proper response to my Particulars of Claim; my Reply is due in September 2026 Final hearing listed for October 2026 The Judge specifically directed me to obtain legal advice and to consult the Judicial College Guidelines for damages assessment Established facts (with written admissions from Defendant): The Defendant's Deputy Data Protection Officer has apologised in writing for "considerable delay" in responding to my Subject Access Requests The Defendant's own witness has conceded in her witness statement that the internal review response was late The Defendant took approximately 10 months to provide a compliant SAR response A key document was omitted from the initial SAR response and only produced through legal disclosure in mediation Scope of work — please quote for one or more of the following: Reply drafting — Assist me to draft a legally robust Reply to the Defendant's response, once received (expected late August 2026). The Reply should develop my case under Article 15, Article 12(3), Article 5(1)(a), and Article 5(2) UK GDPR, and address the exemptions the Defendant relies on under Schedule 2 DPA 2018 (paragraphs 7 and 16). Quantum research — Research and set out the relevant Judicial College Guidelines (17th edition and any newer edition) bands relevant to my case, plus recent UK caselaw on Article 82 UK GDPR distress damages (post-Lloyd v Google, TLT v Home Office, Aven v Orbis, Rolfe v Veale Wasbrough Vizards, and any newer authorities). Provide a written note setting out a realistic damages range with reasoning. Pre-hearing preparation — Help me prepare an updated hearing outline, likely questions from the Judge and opposing counsel, and prepared answers. Assist me to identify the strongest points on liability and quantum. Settlement negotiation support — I have just received a Part 36 offer from the Defendant. Assist me to assess whether it should be accepted, rejected, or countered, and draft an appropriate response. What I will provide: Full case file including sealed claim form, Defence, Particulars of Claim, Evidence Bundle with 9 exhibits, Legal Authorities Bundle, court orders, Defendant's witness statement, all correspondence A detailed case summary explaining the background, current position, and key admissions Any specific documents you request Requirements: Familiarity with UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and English civil procedure (CPR) Experience drafting for County Court small claims (litigant in person context helpful) Ability to work to a professional standard suitable for filing with the court Confidentiality (I will require you to acknowledge confidentiality of all case documents) Deliverables and timing: Initial engagement: preliminary review of case documents and confirmation of what you can help with (within 3-5 days of engagement) Reply drafting: to be delivered no later than 10 September 2026 to allow me time to review and file by 17 September 2026 Quantum research: within 2 weeks of engagement Hearing preparation: to be completed by early October 2026 Budget: I have a limited budget as a litigant in person. Please quote a fixed price for each item you can help with. I would prefer to work with someone who can offer honest, high-quality support at a proportionate cost rather than a full-service legal package I cannot afford. To apply, please tell me: Your relevant qualifications and experience (UK legal training preferred; other legal training + evidence of UK data protection knowledge acceptable) Which parts of the scope you can help with Your fixed price per deliverable Turnaround time A brief example of relevant work if possible (redacted for confidentiality is fine) I am also seeking pro bono representation via the Bar Council's Advocate scheme and local Law Centres in parallel; this Upwork engagement will supplement rather than replace those routes if they materialise. Thank you.
