GIS Analyst / Project Data Contractor for Renewable Energy Development
Worldwide
Overview We are seeking a detail‑oriented GIS Analyst / project data contractor to support utility‑scale renewable energy development projects. This role focuses on maintaining accurate, consistent spatial and project data across multiple internal systems and deliverables (KMZs, GIS layers, CRM records, and environmental reports). Work is expected to be under 30 hours per week on average, but candidates should be flexible—some weeks may require additional availability depending on project workload. Key Responsibilities Maintain and update project KMZ files as projects evolve, including parcel, exclusion area, constraint, buildable area, and infrastructure layers (e.g., transmission lines, substations). Perform spatial analysis to support site screening and design, including area calculations, buildable vs. unbuildable area derivations, buffers, and overlays for environmental and technical constraints. Create and maintain solar and storage site layouts using AI systems that analyze the site characteristics and perform automated solar project designs as project boundaries, exclusions, constraints, and land positions change. Prepare, clean, and organize parcel and project data for import into our CRM, ensuring standardized formats, complete attributes, and clear metadata. Generate and update environmental due‑diligence reports and associated maps using environmental due‑diligence software (e.g., Transect) and GIS outputs. Support general project data, GIS, reporting, and administrative tasks as needed, including map production, exporting datasets, and updating project documentation. Ensure project information remains accurate and consistent across all systems (GIS, KMZs, CRM, project tracking tools), including routine data QA/QC checks. Collaborate with project managers and development team members to clarify data needs, respond to requests, and deliver GIS outputs on agreed timelines. As we implement Prism as a new internal system, help integrate relevant spatial and project data into Prism and maintain data integrity over time. Required Skills and Qualifications Demonstrated experience as a GIS Analyst or similar role working with spatial data, parcels, and project‑level mapping (freelance or in‑house). Proficiency with Google Earth Pro, including creating and managing KMZ/KML files and organizing layers. Proficiency with QGIS (or equivalent desktop GIS) for spatial analysis, data editing, and map production. Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including working with large datasets, filters, lookups, and basic data cleaning. Ability to learn new software platforms and workflows quickly (e.g., solar design platforms, environmental due‑diligence tools, Prism). Experience working across multiple systems and keeping data synchronized, with strong attention to detail and data accuracy. Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain clear, well‑structured records and metadata. Good written communication skills to document methods, assumptions, and data changes. Preferred Skills and Experience Experience in renewable energy, solar development, or land acquisition work. Experience with any of the following tools: Transect, Prism, RatedPower, or similar renewable energy design/assessment platforms. Experience with Monday.com or similar CRM and project/task management tools. Experience organizing and managing multi‑layer GIS projects with clear naming conventions, symbology, and version control.
