Graphic Designer - Event Wayfinding Maps

# Graphic Designer — Event Wayfinding Maps **Event:** Behind The Chair Show 2026 — Fort Lauderdale, FL, August 22–25, 2026 **Deadline:** First drafts of all files due **Thursday, August 13, 2026** — sooner if possible. Must start immediately. We run a large hair and beauty industry event with a trade-show exhibitor floor, a mainstage, dozens of classrooms running at the same time, and several parties across two properties. Attendees only have the venue's generic architectural floorplans, which don't show where anything of ours actually is. We need **7 branded, easy-to-read maps** for our website and mobile app. You can see exactly where they will live, and the empty "Coming soon" slots they fill, here: https://theshow.behindthechair.com/floor-maps --- ## What You'll Create - **1 map** — The exhibitor floor, trade-show style, with every booth numbered and labeled - **1 map** — A "sponsor" version of the exhibitor floor: the same space, extended to include the model prep rooms, with more detail on it - **3 maps** — One per level of the convention center, showing where the mainstage, classrooms, registration, parties, and amenities are. Two of these double as our classroom maps: you highlight the rooms we use and label them by room number. No class names needed — our website lists the classes underneath your map automatically. - **1 map** — A seating chart for our awards show - **1 map** — A separate hotel property where two of our parties are held You'll work from the venue's official floorplans: screenshot them, crop and zoom to the areas that matter, then overlay our branding, labels, and color coding on top. Remove anything an attendee doesn't need. This is wayfinding, not architecture. We supply the full venue layout, room list, and booth list once you're hired. --- ## Style Last year's maps (different venue, but this is the style and level of detail we want): https://www.canva.com/design/DAGwEtxFsFk/vjQYXxkkida-3AlR18z2tg/edit Where your maps will live — look at this first: https://theshow.behindthechair.com/floor-maps Our website, for the brand look and feel: https://theshow.behindthechair.com Everything must use our exact fonts (**Anton** and **Montserrat**, both free on Google Fonts) and our exact hex colors. We'll provide the full list. Design mobile-first. Every label must be readable on a phone without zooming in to hunt for it. --- ## File Requirements Build in **Canva or Figma**. Either is fine, as long as we can edit the files ourselves later. Two rules: 1. Share the editable file with us with **full edit access** — the real file, not a copy. 2. Every room must be its own separate, named element, labeled with its room number. Nothing flattened or merged into a single image. Rule 2 is essential. Rooms change up to the last minute, and a flattened map cannot be fixed. --- ## Process Once hired, all communication moves to **Slack**. We'll send you an invite to our workspace, and that's where files, feedback, and questions go. You must be willing to work with us there. 1. We send you the brand assets, room list, and booth list. 2. Send us each map as you finish it — do not hold everything until the end. We want to see the first one as soon as it exists so we can confirm the style is right before you build the rest. This protects your time. 3. First drafts of all 7 maps due **Thursday, August 13**. Earlier is better. 4. We review and send feedback quickly — usually same day. Revisions must be turned around within 24 hours. This is a fast project on a tight timeline. If you cannot work at this pace this week, please do not apply. --- ## Deliverables - 7 maps as high-resolution image files (desktop and mobile sizes) - Editable Canva or Figma file, organized, layered, named as described above - One shared color and icon legend used across every map --- ## To Apply, Send 1. Your total price for the full 7-map project (**required** — applications without a price will not be reviewed) 2. Your price per extra revision round after delivery 3. Portfolio, especially any map, floorplan, wayfinding, or infographic work 4. Confirmation you can start immediately and deliver first drafts by Thursday, August 13
