Graphic Designer for Municipalities (Small Government Agency)

Graphic Designer (Contract) — City Social City Social is a Chicago-area communications agency built for local government. We help villages, school districts, libraries, and parks departments talk to their residents through professionally produced content. We are looking for a contract graphic designer to handle recurring design work across our municipal clients. This is a contract role on a hourly basis. You would work remotely and collaborate with our client coordinators, who hand off briefs and gather approvals. What you would design (See examples attached) Newsletters. Laying out municipal newsletters and preparing them for both print and digital, so the same content reads well mailed to a resident's door and pulled up on a phone. Event posters. Promotional graphics for community events like Summer in the Park and Coffee with Cops. Seasonal and community graphics. Smaller pieces for things like Mother's Day, Christmas, and 4th of July. Announcements and notices. Clean, clear graphics for permit information, community notices, and other public messaging where readability matters more than flash. What we are looking for Real experience laying out newsletters for both print and digital, including getting files print-ready. A portfolio that shows range across event promotion, informational graphics, and social-ready pieces. Comfort designing for a public audience. Our work has to be clear, accessible, and appropriate for a government voice. Reliability and communication. You hit deadlines and keep coordinators in the loop. Bonus: any experience designing for government, nonprofits, schools, or other community-facing organizations.
