Hand-Drawn Line Artist / Illustrator Needed to Refine Minimalist Coastal Emblem I’m looking for an experienced artist/illustrator with exceptional hand-drawing ability and a highly developed eye for line, form, proportion and organic movement to refine an existing emblem for a coastal botanical and sea salt brand. This is not a logo redesign. The concept and overall composition are already established: a sun over three ocean waves. I will provide the existing artwork as the starting point. What I have discovered through previous refinement work is that this project requires more than technical proficiency in Adobe Illustrator. I am specifically looking for someone who can draw — an artist who can look at a small group of simple lines as one composition and instinctively understand how subtle changes in curve, spacing, proportion, rhythm and visual weight can give an emblem character and presence. The finished mark should feel warm, organic, contemporary, quietly sophisticated and unmistakably coastal — evocative of sun, salt, sea and the natural landscape. The artistic challenge The emblem is intentionally minimal, which means every line matters. The sun and three waves need to feel as though they belong together rather than appearing as separate elements. The sun should have subtle presence and become the natural focal point without becoming heavy or dominant. The waves should have graceful, natural movement and individuality while remaining cohesive as a group. I am not looking for perfectly geometric curves or simply cleaner vector paths. I want the slight sensitivity and character that comes from an artist’s eye and hand — refined enough to function as a professional logo, but organic enough to feel alive. I’m looking for someone with * Strong traditional drawing and/or hand-drawn illustration skills * Exceptional minimalist line work * A sophisticated understanding of proportion, balance and negative space * An intuitive feel for organic curves and natural movement * The ability to create personality with very few lines * Experience translating hand-drawn artwork into clean professional vector files * Adobe Illustrator proficiency for final execution * The ability to preserve an established concept while bringing genuine artistic judgment to its refinement Please include with your proposal Please share 2–4 examples of your own original line work or hand-drawn illustration that best demonstrate your ability to create expressive, organic forms with minimal lines. Sketches, ink drawings, emblem work or other relevant artwork are welcome. I am much more interested in seeing how you draw and how you see than a portfolio of polished logo mockups. Please also briefly tell me how you would approach refining the relationship between the sun and the three waves so they read as one unified emblem. Potential for future work Although this posting is for one defined emblem-refinement project, I am hoping to find an artist with whom I can develop a longer-term creative relationship. Future projects may include original coastal artwork and illustration across several related brands, packaging, apparel and other brand applications. The right artist for this project will understand that the goal is not to add complexity. It is to make a very simple mark distinctive, memorable and full of quiet presence.
