Head of Operations | 8–9 Figure DTC Ecommerce | Full-time Remote
Worldwide
Head of Operations | 8–9 Figure DTC Ecommerce | Full-time Remote Experience level: Expert Hours: Full-time (40 hrs/week), overlap UK mornings + some US ops hours Type: Ongoing / contract-to-hire Budget: Competitive monthly (discussed with shortlisted candidates). Do not bid a $15–25/hr VA rate; this is a senior operator seat. We're a sports, toys and games company with one of the most exciting launch pipelines in the category. Think backyard sports that become real sports, games that become platforms, products people build identities around. The business is a rocket sat on the pad. The founders are historically good at product and marketing. What's missing is the operator who fuels it. If you don't actually like sports, toys, and games, this won't be fun. If you do, you get to put the operating machine under launches that should define the next few years of this category. You take founder vision and stamp it into the company. You build, set, and run the operating cadence. You sit with the founders to set OKRs, then you make them impossible to forget. You run everything that isn't product invention or marketing strategy: supply chain, inventory, 3PLs, freight, customs, vendors, cash and finance, legal/compliance coordination, Shopify, hiring and building those teams. We write OKRs, then they die. We decide things in Slack, then nobody owns them. You make that impossible. 90 days in, the founders are out of chase-mode and the rocket has fuel. WHAT YOU'LL DO -Build, set, and run the operating cadence: a weekly pulse every department is in. Fast. Involved. Accountable. -Set OKRs with the founders, then own tracking, reporting, red/green, follow-through so they cannot die. -Physical ops: POs vs forecast, freight, customs, US + EU 3PLs, in-stock, cost of delivery. You do not run the China factory relationship day to day. -Own our Shopify instances and keep them current: apps, checkout, inventory sync, 3PL connections, settings that actually ship. When the stack is behind, that's on you (you do it or you hire the person who does). -Bring real finance expertise into the seat: cash, working capital, unit economics, inventory as money. We're light here. -Vendors, payments, legal/compliance coordination, people in these lanes. -Hire, fire, and raise the floor in whichever department is the bottleneck. -90 days in: founders are out of chase-mode. The machine runs. OKRs are alive. WHAT YOU WILL NOT OWN: -Vision, brand thesis, product ideas and development -Marketing strategy, paid, social, creative (you sit in the pulse with those teams so ops and launches match) -Day-to-day China manufacturing relationship MUST-HAVES: -Operated inside 8–9 figure ecommerce (DTC, physical goods). -Not a $2M Shopify shop. Not a process admin. -Built and run a cadence that actually stuck. OKRs or a scorecard that didn't die in month two. -Deep in inventory, forecasting, freight, 3PLs, landed cost. -Strong on finance: you can run the numbers, not just coordinate them. -Owned or tightly run Shopify as an operating system (not theme coding). -Hire and develop managers. Hard conversations. -Fully remote. Overlap UK mornings with the founders; catch US ops hours a few times a week (3PLs, customs). -You actually like sports, toys, and games. NOT A FIT IF: -You want a Chief title, or you want to own product/marketing -You think operations is admin / Notion templates -You need to be told what to do -You've never been the person who gets blamed when the container, the warehouse, or the cadence fails TO BE CONSIDERED, YOUR PROPOSAL MUST INCLUDE ALL THREE (skip the generic cover letter) 1. The 8–9 figure companies you operated in, your title, and what you actually owned (inventory, 3PLs, cadence, Shopify, finance) 2. One page: how you'd install a 90-day operating cadence + OKR system in a founder-led ecommerce company where objectives currently get written and forgotten 3. One specific win: a number that moved (in-stock, landed cost, on-time containers, cycle time, Shopify ops) and what you did Proposals missing any of the three will not be reviewed. Full details on the brands and pipeline shared with shortlisted candidates.
