Illustrator/Character Designer Needed for Wooden Toys

About the Company: SOWO is a New York based company that makes wooden storytelling toys for ages 3+. Target launch date is March 2027. About the Project: We are looking for an illustrator/character designer to design the first set — ‘SOWO city animals’. There are six animals (cat, dog, pigeon, rat, raccoon and a squirrel). All of silhouettes for each animal has been finalized, you would be designing within that silhouette (I’ll be attaching a silhouette for reference). The artwork design would be edge to edge and the toys range in size from 2”-3.025” in height. A Little More Detail: we are not looking for overly childish or whimsical designs. We are looking for bold, slightly quirky, some attitude and definitely character! The right balance here is a toy that a child would be drawn to, but a toy an adult would be proud to display as well. If you live in New York, that’s a plus. If you have experience with toy design or designing for physical products in general, that’s a big plus! Because these toys will be sold commercially, full rights/ownership of the designs is required. WHEN SUBMITTING A PROPOSAL: please include your flat rate fee for this project, portfolio and relevant experience. Finally, if we’re a good fit, this would be a long term hire. We have many more sets planned that go beyond the animals!
