2D Illustrator / Game Artist for Cozy Cat Mobile Game

I’m developing a cozy mobile game centered around an ordinary house cat with a second life in a mysterious fantasy world. The game has two connected visual sides: Home: warm, cozy, light, minimal and intimate — soft cream/white backgrounds, furniture, plants, clothing and everyday objects. Dream world: still charming and illustrated, but more mysterious and fantastical — unusual environments, creatures, materials and relics. I’m looking for an illustrator who can help establish an original and consistent visual style for the game and potentially continue producing assets as development progresses. The desired style is: cute but not overly childish soft, clean and hand-illustrated simple, expressive animal shapes warm/muted colors lots of breathing room / light backgrounds cozy storybook or editorial feeling not glossy 3D/mobile-game art not anime-style unless very subtle The main character should still look and behave like a real house cat, rather than a humanoid mascot. Initial paid test I would like to begin with a small paid test before committing to a larger amount of artwork. The test would likely include: 1 orange-and-white house cat character sitting pose curled-up sleeping pose alert/standing or side pose one wearable accessory such as a scarf on a separate layer one cozy home object such as a mushroom lamp one strange/fantasy material or relic from the dream world I will provide visual references and a more detailed brief before the test begins. Important technical requirements Because these assets will be used in a mobile game, I need: layered/editable source files, preferably PSD transparent PNG exports consistent proportions between poses accessories/clothing separated into layers where practical clean file/layer organization artwork suitable for commercial mobile-game use Experience creating game assets, character sheets, modular characters, props, UI illustrations or mobile-game art is a major plus. Long-term work If the test goes well, there may be ongoing paid work including: additional cat poses and expressions fur/coat variations hats, scarves, raincoats and other accessories furniture and room decorations crafting materials and inventory icons fantasy creatures/enemies dream-world environments UI illustrations and decorative elements This is an early-stage indie project, so I’m specifically looking for someone who would enjoy helping build a consistent visual identity over time, rather than producing one isolated illustration. Please include in your proposal Examples of your animal/character illustration work. Any examples of game assets, props, environments or modular characters you have created. Whether you can provide layered PSD/source files. Whether you are comfortable keeping the same character visually consistent across many poses and future assets. Your approximate price for the paid test described above. Please also mention whether any generative AI is used in your workflow. I am looking for original human-created final artwork and do not want generative-AI final assets unless explicitly agreed beforehand. Commercial usage rights will be required for final approved assets.
