Illustrator / Information Designer for Psychology and Business Book

I am seeking an illustrator/information designer to create a small series of clear, memorable conceptual graphics for a forthcoming psychology and business book published by HarperCollins. The book explains how persuasion works and includes original frameworks such as the Belief Path, Persuasion Map, and Belief Sparks. Some images will be diagrams or information graphics; others may use visual metaphors or simple illustration. The goal is not decoration. Each image must make an abstract idea easier to understand and remember. The book’s interior will be printed in black and white, so the final designs must work without color and remain legible at book-page size. The ideal candidate has: • Strong information-design and conceptual-illustration skills • Experience translating abstract ideas into simple visual forms • Excellent typography, composition, and visual hierarchy • Experience designing for books, editorial publications, or educational materials • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator or comparable vector software • A portfolio showing intelligent, restrained work rather than generic corporate infographics Final deliverables should include publication-ready files and editable source files. The designer must be comfortable assigning the necessary publication rights while retaining appropriate portfolio rights after the book is released. Please include relevant portfolio examples and briefly describe how you approach turning a complex idea into a visual. Selected candidates will be invited to complete one paid test image. If the collaboration works well, the assignment will expand to the remaining book graphics.
