2D Illustrator Needed — ONE Live2D-Ready Puppet PSD (REPOST)
Worldwide
Overview Looking for an experienced illustrator who understands Live2D-ready PSD preparation. This is Stage 1 of a multi-stage project: Illustrator → Live2D Rigger → WebDev. The final asset is an interactive AI companion named Gil who has a life of his own — he can watch TV, use his phone, and turn his head toward the camera to talk to the user in real time. Reference Image (Gil.webp): Attached is the exact character design, visual style, color palette, and lighting direction to follow. You are making ONE master painting in Live2D-ready/paper-doll format, NOT multiple separate poses. The rigger will create the actions from your layered puppet file. Character & Setting Character: Gil, 68yo Black man, short white hair, clean-shaven, gold square glasses. Warm, grounded, intelligent grandpa energy. Style: Semi-realistic, cinematic lighting — warm sunset glow + blue phone light + cool TV ambient light. Base Pose: Gil sitting in his green armchair in a 3/4 view facing forward with a neutral expression. The artwork should extend generously beyond visible borders and include sufficient hidden artwork to support head/body movement toward the TV, phone, and camera without exposing unfinished areas. PSD Technical Specifications 4000 × 4000 pixels 300 DPI Fully layered PSD NO flat/merged character layers All areas hidden by overlapping movable parts must be fully painted underneath so no transparent holes appear during movement. Layer Structure HEAD & FACE Prepared for natural Live2D head-turn deformation: head_base ear_L ear_R neck eyelid_L_top eyelid_L_bottom eyelid_R_top eyelid_R_bottom eye_L_white eye_L_iris eye_L_pupil eye_L_highlight eye_R_white eye_R_iris eye_R_pupil eye_R_highlight brow_L brow_R nose brow_crease_lines Irises and pupils should extend beyond the visible eyelid openings enough to support natural side glances and eye movement. MOUTH — LIVE2D LIP-SYNC Do NOT provide only static vowel paintings. Provide separated elements suitable for Live2D mouth deformation: lip_upper lip_lower teeth_upper teeth_lower tongue mouth_inside HAIR & GLASSES hair_white glasses_frame glasses_reflection_L glasses_reflection_R CHEST & BODY adams_apple collar chest shirt_sleeves_L shirt_sleeves_R ARMS & HANDS arm_L_upper arm_L_lower hand_L_palm hand_L_fingers hand_R_upper arm_R_lower hand_R_palm hand_R_fingers hand_R_thumb_neutral hand_R_thumb_bent Hands and fingers should have enough separation and hidden artwork to support holding the phone, scrolling, gesturing, and interacting with the newspaper. PROPS Phone: phone_casing phone_screen_display phone_screen_glow Newspaper: newspaper The newspaper must be fully separated from the hands, with sufficient hidden finger artwork underneath to allow a convincing holding/reading pose. LIGHTING — VERY IMPORTANT The major lighting effects must remain on separate editable layers and should not be permanently baked into the base character paint. Warm sunlight: light_sun_warm_face light_sun_warm_body Phone glow: light_phone_blue_face light_phone_blue_hand light_phone_blue_shirt TV ambient light: light_tv_glow_face light_tv_glow_body The goal is to allow the rigger/developer to control these lighting effects independently as Gil changes activities. ENVIRONMENT background_room — background can remain largely flat/painted chair_green — separate from Gil shadow_gil_chair — separate shadow cast by Gil onto the chair The environmental shading outside the character does not need to be separated. Only lighting/shadows that directly interact with Gil and need to move/change should be separated. Qualifications Proven experience creating Live2D-ready puppet PSDs Strong understanding of hidden artwork and complex layer separation Strong semi-realistic character illustration skills Strong understanding of cinematic skin and lighting Please show examples of layered character work and Live2D-ready artwork, especially work with realistic/semi-realistic lighting. Budget & Timeline Budget: $1,200 fixed Timeline: 7–8 days Process Time-Lapse Screen Recording: Please provide a good resolution, time-lapse screen recording video export showing your painting and layer-separation process. This will be used as behind-the-scenes promotional content for the build process to display the authenticity of the work. Application Requirement Please confirm in your application that you: Understand this is ONE 3/4-view master puppet, not multiple scene illustrations. Understand the character needs to support natural movement toward the TV, phone, and camera/user. Will provide complete hidden artwork underneath overlapping movable parts. Will separate the major lighting effects — sunlight, phone glow, and TV light — onto editable layers. Must have proven experience preparing Live2D/VTuber-ready puppet PSDs (please include portfolio samples showing layered/split PSDs).
