Illustrator Needed — Two Hand-Drawn Scenic Murals, En Grisaille, for Custom Wallpaper Print

Summary

I'm commissioning two custom scenic murals for a new home, to be printed as wallpaper. I'm looking for an illustrator working in the tradition of 18th- and 19th-century panoramic wallpaper and landscape engraving — Zuber & Cie, Dufour, Ananbô, Susan Harter — rendered en grisaille. I have attached two reference photographs and I want faithful, recognizable renderings of them. These are specific places that matter to me, not mood references. The landmarks, the tree structure, the buildings, and the overall composition need to read as those exact locations. What changes is the medium: the finished pieces should look hand-drawn, not photographic. Technique — Please read carefully This is a drawing commission, not a painting commission. I want visible draftsmanship: pen-and-ink contour linework, cross-hatching and stippling building the shadows, tonal wash laid over the top. Crisp in the foreground, thinning into the distance. Not blended painterly rendering, not digital airbrush, not a photo filter or auto-trace. If you've worked in etching, engraving, toile, botanical or architectural pen-and-ink, that's the sensibility. Color The room is color-drenched — walls, trim, ceiling — in Sherwin-Williams Shade-Grown SW 6188, a deep near-neutral green (#4E5147, LRV 8). The murals need to be cohesive with that color. Wall where the murals will go: - Wall length: 12'-1" - Ceiling height: 10'-0" - Window: 3'-0" wide × 6'-0" high, begins 1'-0" from one corner - Artwork size incl. bleed: Approx. 13'-1" × 11'-0" Deliver a continuous field — don't cut the window opening out of the artwork; the installer trims on site. Keep the window zone compositionally quiet. Deliverables - Vector master (.ai or .eps) — linework-based art vectorizes cleanly, which is why the drawing approach and this requirement fit together - Flattened print-ready export at full wall size, 150 dpi minimum at 100% scale - 0'-6" bleed all four edges - Layered working files and full rights transfer To Apply - Portfolio samples of hand-drawn linework. - Please don't send photo-manipulation or painterly digital work. - Any large-format print or wallpaper experience Timeline and rate I'd rather pay for quality than speed. Budget: $200 (flexible). Target completion: 1 month from start date.
