Illustrator Needed: Vintage Engraving-Style Museum Illustration for Apparel

We are VAMPA, a museum in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, developing a premium apparel collection inspired by objects in our museum collection. For our first T-shirt, we are looking for an illustrator to create an original illustration of one of our historic vampire killing kits, based closely on high-resolution reference photographs we will provide. The desired aesthetic is 19th-century engraving/etching-style illustration, fine linework, cross-hatching and stippling, similar to illustrations found in Victorian scientific, medical and natural-history publications. The finished piece should feel like an illustration from an antique museum catalogue or archival scientific plate, while remaining recognizable and accurately based on the actual VAMPA artefact. This must be original, human-created artwork. We will not accept AI-generated artwork, AI-assisted image generation, or an AI/Photoshop filter applied to the source photograph. We are looking for an illustrator who can genuinely draw in this style and will ask to see sketches or work-in-progress files as part of the project. The artwork will primarily be used as a large screen print on the back of a heavyweight T-shirt, so it needs to reproduce cleanly in print. We will handle the VAMPA logo, typography and final garment layout separately. Deliverables: final high-resolution illustration; layered/source working file; vector artwork where appropriate (AI/EPS/SVG); transparent-background PNG; print-ready artwork suitable for screen printing; and full commercial usage rights/ownership. Please include 2–3 examples of your own engraving-style, etching-style, scientific, historical or detailed line illustration work with your application. Please do not submit AI-generated portfolio examples. We are commissioning one illustration initially, but would ideally like to find an illustrator with whom we can develop an ongoing series based on objects from the VAMPA collection. Thank you.
