We’re looking for an Impact Associate and Translator for Taiwan to join our growing team. Role: Impact Associate (Taiwan) Location: Remote (must be available during regular business hours in Taiwan at least 5 hours a week) Role Status: Part Time Consultant (estimated at 10-30 hours a week for 4-6 months) Remuneration: 20 USD/hour for hourly tasks, 0,03 USD/word for AI-translation editing About ChangeX We are ChangeX. This role: Impact Associate and Translator (Taiwan) This role is an opportunity for a customer support professional who is interested in having a positive impact. In this role, you will first be reviewing and refining AI-generated translations of our platform into Mandarin, and/or Taiwanese later, you will be responsible for providing first-line support to organizations and individuals seeking funding for their community projects. You will be part of our Impact team, working closely with our global team of Impact Associates, supporting community changemakers around the world. You will be responsible for all Chinese/Taiwanese language support, including introductory calls with community teams, ongoing email support, and managing our due diligence processes. In this role, you will: Proofread and edit AI-generated translations of our website and supporting documents (approx. 60k words) from UK/US English to Chinese/Taiwanese, ensuring linguistic accuracy, consistency and an appropriate tone. Use translation and localization tools (for example Tolgee, Weglot, SmartCat and Google Docs/Sheets) to review auto-translated content, approve final strings, and make corrections as needed. Carry out due diligence calls with those who have applied to start a community project in Taiwan, to provide support and assess whether they are committed and qualified to receive funding to start their project of choice. Manage Chinese/Taiwanese language email support via Intercom, following up with community teams to gather the information needed to approve their project and ensuring that all inbound requests are responded to in a timely manner. Oversee due diligence processes for all community teams in Taiwan, review and edit content for the proven innovations included in portfolios in Taiwan, to ensure they are relevant for a Taiwanese audience. Support marketing outreach in Taiwan, for example by engaging in direct outreach to share funding opportunities with local networks, contributing to social media or email campaigns, and helping to promote events or webinars. Provide support to the Impact team as they build local databases of potential applicants in Taiwan, including local research as well as helping the team understand local regulations, governance structures and other contextual factors where needed. Support our Social Innovations team communicate and source ideas that can be part of the Taiwanese portfolio. Occasionally interface with funding partners (for example, joining update calls or contributing to reports) to share local insights, stories and feedback from community teams in Taiwan, as needed. Ongoing adhoc translations as needed after the initial translation phase. For the initial AI review project, you will work through approximately 60,000 words in our translation platform (likely Tolgee), to be completed within around 45 days. Deliverables Timing: • This is a 4-6 month part-time role that we estimate will require up to 20-30 hrs/week during the AI review phase, and then 10-20 hours a week as an impact associate for another 3-4 months. • After this inital period and our fund launch in Taiwan, we can only commit to a few hours a week for ongoing support, estimated to be at about 5 hours a week for another 6-12 months. However, if new funds get confirmed in Taiwan, we’ll be able to expand the contract to include more hours again. • You can choose the times that suit you best to carry out the work, once you have some time blocks available during regular working hours for the due diligence calls to be scheduled in your calendar via the ChangeX product. We’re looking for people who have: • A demonstrated commitment to community-driven change and a good understanding of social and environmental issues; • The ability to work through English and Chinese and Taiwanese; • Previous experience localizing content from English to Chinese/Taiwanese; • Great communication skills, both oral and written; • Highly empathetic and strong ethical fibre; • Strong research skills; • The capability to be a fast learner; • Experience with customer support tools (Intercom, Zoom, Calendly, Trello) preferred.
