Interior Designer for New Construction

Company: Millennium Builders LLC Location: Remote, with preference for candidates familiar with South Florida construction and design Engagement: Freelance/Contract Millennium Builders LLC is seeking an experienced interior designer to assist with new residential construction projects. We need someone who understands the complete construction process—not only decorating—and can develop attractive, practical, and construction-ready design packages. The designer will work closely with our project managers, clients, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure that design decisions are coordinated with the construction schedule, project budget, and architectural plans. Responsibilities Review architectural plans and recommend interior layout or design adjustments before construction progresses Develop cohesive design concepts, color palettes, and mood boards Assist with space planning and room layouts Select and specify flooring, tile, cabinetry, countertops, plumbing fixtures, lighting, hardware, paint colors, wall finishes, and other interior materials Create kitchen, bathroom, closet, and custom millwork concepts Prepare 2D drawings, elevations, and detailed design plans when required Create realistic 3D renderings to help clients visualize the proposed design Prepare organized, room-by-room finish schedules and specification sheets Provide product information, dimensions, pricing, purchase links, quantities, lead times, and suitable alternatives Coordinate selections with construction requirements, budgets, and deadlines Communicate with project managers, vendors, subcontractors, and clients regarding design questions and revisions Track client approvals and maintain accurate records of all selections Provide all final drawings, schedules, renderings, and editable source files Required Qualifications Demonstrated experience designing ground-up residential construction projects Strong portfolio showing completed new-construction interiors Ability to read and understand architectural and construction plans Experience preparing detailed finish schedules and design specifications Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or comparable design software Strong 3D-rendering capabilities Familiarity with U.S. construction practices, measurements, products, and suppliers Excellent written and verbal English Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines Availability for regular communication during Eastern Time business hours Experience with Florida or South Florida residential construction, vendors, and design preferences is strongly preferred. Project Structure and Compensation We are open to either hourly or milestone-based fixed-fee proposals. The initial engagement will be for a specific new-construction project, with the opportunity for ongoing work on future Millennium Builders projects if the relationship is successful. All work must be performed and tracked through Upwork. The designer must maintain the confidentiality of all project and client information. All paid project deliverables, including editable source files, will be provided to Millennium Builders LLC.
