Interior Designer for guest units

We’re looking for a talented designer to help guide the design decisions for three approximately 460 sq. ft. guest cottages in Texas. The architectural plans are complete, the overall design direction has already been established, and we have a contractor ready to build. We’re not looking for someone to create the aesthetic or furnish the homes. Instead, we’re looking for someone who can help us confidently make the hundreds of design and material decisions required before construction begins. Responsibilities * Review existing architectural plans and provide recommendations where appropriate * Help specify permanent interior and exterior finishes * Recommend flooring, wall finishes, plaster/limewash systems, cabinetry, countertops, windows, doors, roofing, and exterior materials * Guide kitchen and bathroom design decisions, including appliances, plumbing fixtures, waterproofing systems, and finish selections * Recommend lighting, hardware, paint colors, and finish palettes * Compare products and present practical options at different price points * Identify where to invest and where to save without compromising the overall design * Review samples and provide ongoing design guidance throughout construction * Create clear material and finish specifications that can be shared directly with our contractor We’re Looking For Someone Who * Has exceptional taste and strong attention to detail * Understands residential construction and finish materials * Enjoys designing beautiful, functional small spaces * Can confidently recommend products and explain the pros and cons of different options * Is comfortable working collaboratively with an owner throughout the design process * Can help simplify decisions and keep the project moving Experience with boutique hospitality, vacation rentals, residential construction, or interior architecture is a plus, but not required. This is an hourly consulting role with the potential for ongoing collaboration throughout the project.
