Summary

Please note: We strongly prefer candidates who can provide verifiable evidence of previous work. We are an established US-based e-commerce fashion business expanding into international markets, with the UK as a key priority. We are looking for a highly experienced International SEO Consultant who can independently diagnose and solve complex SEO challenges involving multi-country websites, duplicate/near-duplicate content, international website architecture, hreflang, canonicalization, indexation, and country-specific SEO strategy. This is not a general SEO or content-writing position. We need a specialist who can investigate our existing US and international websites, identify the underlying SEO problems, provide evidence-based recommendations, and help us implement and validate the right solution. The initial engagement will focus on audit → strategy → testing → implementation. Successful completion may lead to ongoing consulting and implementation work. Key Responsibilities 1. International SEO Audit & Diagnosis You will audit our US and international websites and determine: What is currently wrong with our international SEO setup Duplicate and near-duplicate content issues Pages that should be localized, rewritten, consolidated, redirected, or removed Potential keyword cannibalization between countries International website architecture issues Canonical and hreflang implementation Indexation and crawling issues Collection/page duplication Regional URL and site structure How Google is interpreting our country-specific websites We are looking for actual problem-solving, not a generic SEO checklist. 2. International SEO Strategy Develop a practical international SEO strategy covering: URL/domain structure International website architecture Collection and product architecture Country-specific keyword targeting Search intent Content localization Duplicate-content management Canonicalization hreflang Internal linking XML sitemaps Indexation Country-specific metadata Product information Local trust signals 3. US vs. UK SEO Strategy The UK website is a major priority. We sell many of the same products in both markets, so we do not expect every product to be completely different. Instead, we need an expert who can determine how to create a genuinely useful UK search and shopping experience rather than simply copying the US website and changing currency or adding "UK" to page titles. You will assess: US vs. UK content UK search behavior and terminology UK sizing information Shipping and returns information UK collection structure Product information Metadata Internal linking Localized content opportunities Which pages/content can be reused Which pages require meaningful localization Which collections should be changed, consolidated, or removed 4. Website & Collection Architecture Audit our existing collection structure and recommend: Which collections are necessary Which collections are redundant Which should be renamed Which should be merged Which should be removed Which collections have unique UK search intent Improved navigation structure Product-to-collection relationships International internal-linking strategy We want to improve the architecture and SEO strategy, not simply rewrite existing text. 5. Google Business Profile / Local SEO You will also review our Google Business Profile presence and identify: Duplicate or conflicting listings Business/location structure Category configuration Business information consistency Website/location consistency Local landing-page strategy Local SEO signals Verification issues Profile optimization opportunities Opportunities related to the UK market Hands-on Google Business Profile experience is required. 6. International Competitor Research You will analyze successful international fashion/e-commerce businesses, including competitors such as: Ever-Pretty JJ's House Other relevant international fashion/e-commerce competitors The research should examine: International website structure Country-specific collections Product localization International SEO strategy hreflang implementation Content differences between markets Local SEO strategy Country-specific search intent We want to learn from their strategy and structure, not copy their content. 7. Test Before Full Rollout We do not want hundreds of changes implemented without validation. Our preferred approach is: Research → Audit → Strategy → One Example → Review → Approval → Rollout For example: Select one UK collection. Audit the current US and UK versions. Research UK search intent. Analyze competitors. Create the recommended UK version. Explain the major changes and reasoning. Implement the test version. Establish measurement criteria. Review the outcome. Develop the framework for the remaining collections. Required Expertise Must Have Proven International SEO experience Experience with multi-country websites Advanced technical SEO knowledge Strong understanding of: hreflang Canonical tags Duplicate/near-duplicate content International website architecture Indexation Redirects XML sitemaps Google Search Console Keyword cannibalization Internal linking Google Business Profile experience E-commerce SEO experience Strong competitor research skills Ability to independently diagnose complex SEO problems Ability to develop and execute an international SEO strategy Strong Advantage Shopify experience Fashion/e-commerce experience Experience managing US + UK websites Experience launching a new country website Experience resolving international duplicate-content issues Experience restructuring large collection architectures SEMrush / Ahrefs experience Screaming Frog experience Experience with Google Business Profile migrations, restructuring, or verification What We Are NOT Looking For Please do not apply if your experience is primarily limited to: Basic on-page SEO Content writing Generic keyword research Blog strategy AI-generated SEO checklists Generic SEO audits We need someone who can genuinely diagnose, explain, strategize, and implement. We want an expert who can clearly tell us: Here is the problem. Here is why it is happening. Here is the evidence. Here is what Google recommends. Here is what successful international competitors are doing. Here is what we should do. Here is what we should NOT do. Here is the first implementation we should test. Here is how we will measure the result. Initial Deliverables The initial project is expected to include: International SEO audit US vs. UK website comparison Duplicate/near-duplicate content analysis International website architecture analysis Collection architecture recommendations hreflang audit Canonical and indexation audit UK keyword/search-intent research International competitor analysis Google Business Profile audit Prioritized action plan One completed UK collection/product example Implementation instructions for our internal team Measurement and reporting framework Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a senior-level International SEO consultant/problem solver who has worked with complex multi-country e-commerce websites. You should be comfortable: Working independently Conducting deep technical research Challenging existing website structures Identifying root causes Making strategic recommendations Explaining technical SEO decisions clearly Working with business owners and internal teams Moving from strategy into practical implementation If you have previously looked at a complicated international website and thought: "I understand the problem, and I know how to fix it." —you may be the right person for this project. Compensation We are open to a paid initial audit/consulting project. Compensation will depend on: Your experience Relevant case studies Project scope Expected deliverables If the initial project is successful, there is potential for ongoing consulting, implementation, and international SEO management.
