Junior Developer (Postgraduate) — AI Chat Development, Flutter & OpenAI Integration — Mentored Role

Mevidual is a skincare-tech company building an AI-powered mobile app that helps users navigate skincare routines, ingredients, and personalized recommendations through a conversational AI chat built on Flutter and OpenAI. We're scaling up investment in this feature — we now consider the AI chat the most important part of our product — and we're looking for a tech rookie, postgraduate preferred, fresh out of university, who wants a real, hands-on entry point into modern AI-integrated app development. You'll work directly under the guidance of our AI Content & Product Lead, who owns the direction and quality of the AI chat experience, and alongside our existing development team. This is a mentored role designed to grow: as the AI chat area expands, so does the team around it, and so does your role in it. What you'll work on Migrating our OpenAI integration from the deprecated Prompt-object API to the current instructions-based approach (Responses API), following an existing Firestore-driven configuration pattern already in place. Implementing new AI chat features from our active backlog: personalized greetings (already shipped, you'd build on this pattern), ingredient- and product-based search through the chat, routine recommendations, a feedback system, and follow-up notifications. Working with Firebase/Firestore (data models, Cloud Functions) and Flutter (GetX state management) in our existing Flutter codebase. Testing and debugging our OpenAI API calls directly (Postman or similar) before and while they're wired into the app — you should be comfortable poking at an API on its own, not just through the client. Helping automate parts of our current AI content pipeline (e.g. the manual knowledge-base upload process our AI Content Lead runs today) using Python scripting. Contributing ideas and early implementation around AI agents/automations as we expand beyond a single chat assistant (e.g. automated workflows, agentic tooling) — this is a growth area for the role, not a day-one expectation. Collaborating closely with our AI Content Lead on translating content/knowledge-base needs into working features — you write the code, she owns the "what" and "why." Contributing to security hardening of the AI integration (e.g., moving API calls behind a backend proxy) as one of your first tasks. Tech stack Flutter/Dart, Firebase (Firestore, Cloud Functions, Auth), OpenAI API (Responses API, Vector Store/File Search), GetX, Python, Postman, Git. What we're looking for A recent postgraduate or fresh-from-university candidate (computer science, software engineering, or related — self-taught with strong fundamentals also welcome) who wants to build real-world experience rather than someone already senior. Familiarity with Python and comfortable using Postman (or similar) to test and debug API calls directly. Some exposure to automation and/or AI agent concepts — personal projects, coursework, or self-study all count; we're not expecting production experience here. Comfortable learning quickly and working directly with a non-technical content lead to translate requirements into code. Genuine interest in AI/LLM-integrated products, not just traditional app development. Reliable, communicative, and comfortable with a remote, async-friendly working style.
