LIMS Data Integration Specialist — Instrument-to-LIMS Import Configuration (Paid Trial → Ongoing)

We're an analytical testing laboratory looking for a specialist to configure our LIMS (laboratory information management system) to automatically ingest data from a newly added analytical instrument. This starts as a small paid trial and, for the right person, becomes an ongoing, long-term engagement. The problem to solve Our LIMS uses a data import/transfer tool to load instrument output files automatically. A newly added instrument produces an output file (CSV) that the tool does not yet recognize — so the data is currently being entered by hand. We need you to configure the import tool to recognize, parse, and correctly map the new instrument's file into the LIMS, so ingestion becomes automatic, exactly like our existing instruments. A working example (an existing instrument that already loads correctly) and the cross-reference table will be provided as your model. This role is a fit for you if: You have hands-on experience with a proprietary LIMS and its data import/transfer tooling (e.g., LabWare, STARLIMS, LabVantage, Thermo SampleManager, or comparable), and have configured that tool to recognize a new instrument's file format that wasn't natively supported. You've built or modified format definitions / parsers inside a proprietary tool — not just written SQL queries against a database. You're comfortable working live and collaboratively — screen-sharing and solving problems in real time with our team, rather than taking work away and returning later. You have solid SQL Server and relational-database fundamentals, and Crystal Reports experience is a plus (relevant to later phases). This role is not a fit if: your background is strong general SQL/database development but without direct LIMS import-tool and instrument-integration experience. That specific experience is what this work requires. How it works Paid trial project ($350–500 fixed): you'll receive a clear written specification, example files, and access to a sandbox environment. The deliverable is well-defined and testable — you'll demonstrate the new instrument's file parsing and mapping correctly into the LIMS. Success on the trial leads directly into the ongoing engagement — covering further instrument integrations, reporting automation, and long-term maintenance.
