Landscape Design & 3D Modeling Assistant Long-Term Remote Position | Landscape Design-Build Company We’re a growing residential landscape design-build company based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, looking for a talented remote Landscape Design & 3D Modeling Assistant to become a long-term part of our design team. This is not a one-off freelance rendering position. We’re looking for someone who can work closely with the company owner/designer to take rough concepts, sketches, site measurements, photographs, inspiration images, and design direction and turn them into polished landscape designs, 3D models, renderings, and presentation-ready deliverables. The right person will essentially operate as the production side of our design studio. What You’ll Work On Projects typically include: * Residential landscape master plans * Patios, walkways, retaining walls, and outdoor living spaces * Planting and garden design * Outdoor kitchens and fire features * Pergolas and structures * Grading and site-layout concepts * 3D landscape modeling * Photorealistic or presentation-quality renderings * Construction/design drawings * Client presentation materials * Revisions and design iterations Our design style tends toward naturalistic landscapes, strong material combinations, thoughtful planting, and spaces that feel integrated with the architecture and surrounding environment. How the Role Works You won’t simply receive a project brief and disappear for two weeks. We want someone we can collaborate with closely. A typical project might look like: Concept → Model → Review → Screen Share → Revise → Refine → Final Deliverables You may receive a hand sketch, site plan, photographs, measurements, material selections, and verbal design direction. You’ll build the project digitally, and we’ll work through the design together. For this reason, communication and responsiveness are extremely important. Strong English communication and the ability to jump on a video call or screen share to work through a design are required. What We’re Looking For Required: * Strong 3D modeling skills * Strong drafting/site-plan skills * Experience with landscape architecture, landscape design, architecture, or outdoor environments * Ability to understand plans, dimensions, grades, and spatial relationships * Ability to create polished client-facing renderings * Organized file management * Strong English communication * Comfortable receiving direct design feedback and making revisions quickly * Reliable internet connection * Availability for regular overlap with U.S. Central Time Experience with software such as SketchUp, AutoCAD, Lumion, D5 Render, Twinmotion, Enscape, Revit, Vectorworks, or similar tools is valuable. Planting-design knowledge and familiarity with North American residential construction are major bonuses. Who Will Do Well Here We’re less interested in finding someone who produces one beautiful rendering after receiving perfect instructions. We’re looking for someone who can think through a project with us. You should be comfortable hearing: “Let’s move that patio six feet toward the house, rotate the fire feature, open up this sightline, change the paving material, and try a different planting mass here.” …and then working through those ideas collaboratively.
