LinkedIn Messaging Expert (Higher Education B2B) to Run Outreach from Founder's Profile
Worldwide
No unsolicited contact, connections or emails outside of Upwork. Your messages will be deleted without review. We will only review proposals provided on this platform. We are an edtech company selling into universities and colleges. Our CEO has a credible LinkedIn presence in this sector and a Sales Navigator seat. You will run outreach from that profile to book discovery calls with student success and wellbeing leaders across Australia and New Zealand. This is not a volume game. It is a messaging craft role. We are hiring for the quality of what you write, not the number of connection requests you can fire off. About Semester Student Planner We help students succeed. Over five years we have supplied 22,000+ bespoke planners to 35+ institutions across the UK, US and Australia, alongside coaching, workshops and keynotes. Our founder's story is the spine of the brand. He went from a 39% average in first year to graduating at 73% after learning how to plan properly. First-generation student, no roadmap, worked it out the hard way. That story opens doors, and you will be working with a profile that already carries trust in this sector. What you are selling The Semester AI Student Coach. A 24/7 coach in a student's pocket. Two things it does: For students: rather than handing over answers, it asks the coaching questions that help a student self-manage. Planning, prioritising, breaking down overwhelm, knowing what to do next. For the institution: it absorbs the transactional queries that currently flood already-stretched support teams. "Where do I find the extension form?" "Who handles accommodation?" Instead of a human triaging that for the four hundredth time, the coach routes the student to the right service, form or page the university already has. Staff get their time back for the students who need a person. The pitch is not "we built an AI chatbot." Every vendor says that. The pitch is five years of coaching methodology behind it, and a physical product already sitting on desks at institutions that trust us. How this starts: a paid working consultation Before any outreach goes out, you and our CEO will sit down for a working session of roughly 90 minutes. This is paid, and it is the first thing we do. In that session we will: Walk you through the product, the founder story and the objections we already know we get Define the ICP together and segment it properly. Different roles buy this for different reasons, and a Director of Student Success is not a Head of Wellbeing is not a Deputy Vice-Chancellor Agree the messaging angle for each segment, so you are never guessing at positioning Hand over the list of ANZ institutions we are already in conversation with, and separate the warm from the cold Set the voice rules, the guardrails and what you can improvise on versus what needs a check first You leave that meeting with an agreed brief. If we cannot align on scope and messaging in that session, we part ways cleanly and you have still been paid for your time. What you will do after that Build and segment lead lists in Sales Navigator against the agreed ICP Research each prospect properly. Recent institutional news, retention strategy, published student success priorities, conference talks. Outreach that could only have been written to that one person Write and run personalised connection requests and multi-touch sequences from our CEO's profile, in his voice, using the agreed segment messaging Manage the reply flow. Qualify, handle early objections, book discovery calls straight into his calendar Iterate the messaging. Bring us evidence on what is landing and what is dying, and propose changes rather than waiting to be asked Report weekly: connections sent, accept rate, reply rate, positive reply rate, meetings booked, meetings held Account access You will be given access to the CEO's LinkedIn and Sales Navigator accounts through a shared LastPass vault. You will not receive or store the credentials directly. We will agree login practice, two-factor handling and daily activity limits during the consultation. We take account security seriously and we expect you to as well. Anyone who has previously had a client account restricted should tell us up front and explain what happened. An honest answer is not a disqualifier. Discovering it later is. What success looks like Weeks 1–2: consultation complete, ICP segmented, messaging agreed, lists built, first sequences live Month 1: baseline metrics established, 3+ discovery calls booked Month 2 onwards: 6–10 qualified discovery calls per month with decision-makers or genuine influencers Throughout: connection accept rate above 35%, positive reply rate above 10% We will refine these together once we have real data. We would rather you tell us a target is wrong than quietly miss it. You are a strong fit if you have Near-native written English. You will be writing in our CEO's voice to senior academics who read for a living. Register, idiom and tone have to be right, not just grammatical. British or Australian spelling conventions preferred 2+ years writing and running LinkedIn outreach with documented booking numbers, which we will ask to see Real copywriting ability. Short sentences, no "I hope this message finds you well," no paragraph of flattery before the ask Hands-on Sales Navigator expertise: advanced search, boolean, lead lists, saved searches, account mapping Experience selling into higher education, government, healthcare or another slow institutional buyer. Long cycles, committees, procurement Track record operating inside someone else's brand voice on their own profile Enough hours overlapping ANZ business time to keep reply threads warm Nice to have Familiarity with student success, retention or wellbeing Experience selling AI-adjacent products into sceptical buyers CRM discipline, and experience with tools like Clay or n8n Please do not apply if Your approach is bulk automation or scraped lists. It will get the account restricted and it does not work on this buyer Your written English needs an AI pass before it is client-ready. Using AI as a thinking tool is fine. Depending on it to sound fluent is not, because you will be handling live reply threads where there is no time to run anything through a filter You cannot show real numbers from previous campaigns Your proposal is a template. We will spot it, and it tells us exactly how you would write to our prospects How to apply Skip the boilerplate. Send us: A sample connection request and first follow-up (under 100 words combined) to a Director of Student Success at a named Australian university, selling the AI Student Coach. Show us you researched the institution. Your numbers from a comparable campaign: volume, accept rate, reply rate, meetings booked, over what period. One sentence on the single biggest objection you think a university will raise about an AI coaching tool. One line on how you handle account safety when working inside a client's LinkedIn. A 60-second unscripted video or voice note introducing yourself and telling us why you think this product is a hard sell into universities. Unedited, no script, phone camera is fine. Start your proposal with the word "Semester" so we know you read this. Shortlisted candidates are paid for the consultation session. If the brief lands well on both sides, we move to executing the campaign which will last 4-6 weeks. This will be a part time role, however please propose how many hours per week would make this as successful as possible for the ANZ market. We are open to 10-30 hours/week.
