# Logo & Brand Mark Design for Good News — Modern Christian Scripture Study Brand ## About Good News **Good News** is a modern Christian digital product focused on helping people spend meaningful time in Scripture consistently. The core experience is approachable, Scripture-first Bible study designed to fit naturally into everyday life. We are developing a brand that needs to work beautifully across web, mobile, digital content, social, print, and other future applications. The brand should feel distinctly Christian, but **not like a traditional church, ministry, Christian bookstore, or generic Bible app.** We want something that feels like a thoughtful, beautifully designed consumer brand while remaining clearly rooted in Christianity. ## What We Need I’m looking for an experienced brand/logo designer to develop the primary visual identity for **Good News**. The logo needs to work across: * Website and mobile experiences * App icon * Social media * Digital study/content artwork * Email * Printed materials * Merchandise in the future * Small applications such as favicons The final identity will likely need: * Primary logo / wordmark * Standalone brand symbol * Horizontal lockup * Compact or square treatment * Light and dark versions * Single-color versions * App icon / favicon treatment * Final vector and production-ready files ## Brand Direction Good News should feel: **Calm Grounded Hopeful Thoughtful Modern Premium Editorial Warm Confident Timeless** It should **not** feel: * Corporate * Like a typical SaaS or tech startup * Trendy for the sake of being trendy * Childish * Overly masculine or feminine * Like a megachurch logo * Like generic Christian clip art * Rustic / farmhouse * Loud or overly promotional * Overly ornate or historical The broader visual direction uses generous whitespace, strong typography, editorial influence, warm off-whites, deep ink/navy tones, muted mineral blues and greens, and restrained warmer accents. Current core colors include approximately: * Deep Ink / Navy: `#102638` * Mineral Blue: `#4E6576` * New Life Green: `#506B5A` * Warm Living Paper: `#F5F1E8` * Clear White: `#FCFCFA` The logo does **not** need to use every color, and I am open to the designer challenging how color should be used in the final identity. ## Christian Symbolism The Christian foundation of the brand should be considered seriously. However, I do **not** want the solution to simply be: * A generic cross * An open Bible * A dove * Praying hands * A church silhouette * A fish symbol * A predictable cross integrated into a letter Those elements are not completely prohibited, but if familiar Christian symbolism is used, it should be interpreted in a distinctive, intelligent, and ownable way. I am especially interested in concepts that can communicate ideas such as: * The Good News / Gospel * New life * Light * The Word * Truth * Resurrection * A path or journey * Growth * Revelation * Hope * Something being made new The strongest result may be symbolic rather than literal. Most importantly, **please bring your own thinking to the project.** I’m looking for a designer who can develop a strong concept rather than simply illustrate a direction I provide. ## The Name The primary brand name is: **Good News** The logo should primarily work with **Good News** rather than depending on a tagline or domain name. The identity should be flexible and durable enough to grow with the brand over time. ## Audience The audience is broad: adults who want to read and understand Scripture more consistently, from people already deeply familiar with Christianity to people who may be engaging seriously with the Bible for the first time. The brand should feel accessible without becoming watered down. It should not visually signal one denomination, political identity, age group, or narrow Christian subculture. ## What I’m Looking for in the Design Process I would prefer to see **multiple genuinely different conceptual directions**, rather than several cosmetic variations of the same idea. For the initial concept presentation, I’d like to understand: 1. The idea behind each direction 2. What the symbol represents 3. Why it fits Good News 4. How it could become recognizable as a standalone brand mark 5. How it performs at both large and very small sizes I care more about **concept, simplicity, and distinctiveness** than decorative complexity. The ideal mark should eventually be recognizable even when the words **Good News** are removed. ## Final Deliverables Once a direction is selected and refined, I would like a complete professional logo package including: Deliverables should include 2–3 genuinely distinct initial concepts, refinement of one selected direction, and final editable vector + SVG + PNG files for the primary logo and standalone mark. Additional brand-system work or expanded deliverables may be offered as a separate follow-on project. All final logo artwork should be original and suitable for full commercial ownership and potential trademark use. **Please do not use stock logo assets, premade logo templates, or generative-AI output as the final artwork.** ## When Applying Please include: * 3–5 identity projects that best demonstrate your logo and brand identity work * Examples where you developed an original symbol, not just a wordmark * A short explanation of your typical concept-development process * The number of initial conceptual directions you typically present * The number of revision rounds included You do **not** need to create speculative logo concepts for Good News as part of your application. I would much rather evaluate the quality of your existing work and your thinking as a designer. ## The Goal I’m not looking for a temporary logo. I want an identity that can remain distinctive and relevant as **Good News** grows for many years. The strongest outcome will feel **simple in hindsight, distinctive enough to own, deeply appropriate to the name Good News, and timeless rather than fashionable.**
