Summary

We are looking for a "Seoul-based person who can appear on camera and explore Seoul with our client for a YouTube travel/documentary Vlog." The video will introduce both the positive and darker sides of Korean beauty culture, including the strong social pressure surrounding appearance, being slim, skincare, cosmetic procedures, and dieting. We would like to visit different places in Seoul and have honest, natural conversations about Korean beauty standards vs. beauty standards in other countries. 1) What We Would Like to Explore We are interested in visiting places such as: - Cafés or restaurants popular with people who are dieting or watching their calories - Shops selling zero-calorie / low-calorie / diet products - Cosmetic surgery clinics — to learn what types of beauty and cosmetic procedures are currently popular in Korea - Clinics offering fat-reduction/body-contouring procedures — to learn what treatments are popular and how Korean beauty standards influence people's decisions about their bodies - Areas or businesses known for easy access to weight-loss medication or diet-related services Rather, we want to understand the culture and have an honest discussion about questions such as: - What does “beautiful” mean in Korea today? - What body types are considered attractive? - How strong is the pressure to be thin? - What beauty standards are considered “normal” in Korea? - How are Korean beauty standards different from those in other countries? - Why do people choose cosmetic procedures or weight-loss treatments? - Has social media changed Korean beauty standards? - Do young people feel pressure to look a certain way? 2) Who We Are Looking For You would be a great fit if you: - Live in Seoul - Speak Korean and English comfortably - Have lived abroad or have significant experience living outside Korea - Are interested in Korean culture, beauty, fashion, social issues, or lifestyle - Are comfortable discussing sensitive topics such as body image and beauty standards - Are comfortable appearing on camera - Are outgoing and able to have natural conversations while walking around the city - Can share your own honest opinions and experiences rather than simply translating Korean or foreign applicants are both welcome. We are especially interested in someone who can provide an international perspective because they have experienced different cultures and beauty standards. 3) Your Role You would: 1. Help us find suitable cafés, restaurants, shops, and other locations related to Korean diet and beauty culture. 2. Help us identify clinics that may be willing to cooperate with filming. 3. Spend the day exploring these locations together with our client. 4. Talk naturally with our client about Korean beauty standards and your own experiences/opinions. 5. Help communicate with local businesses and clinics when necessary. 6. Appear on camera during the Vlog. We are looking for someone who can be a guide + conversation partner + local cultural expert, rather than simply a tour guide. 5) Schedule One full day of filming Approximately 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM We expect to do this around 29 September 6) Payment USD 150 for the full day All reasonable expenses during filming, including transportation, food, drinks, and other costs related to the filming, will be covered by our client. 7) Important This is for a Japanese YouTube travel/documentary channel. The video will discuss both the positive aspects and the more complicated/darker aspects of Korean beauty culture. We are therefore looking for someone who is comfortable having an open, honest, and balanced conversation, including topics that may be sensitive or controversial. If you are interested, please send us: * A short introduction about yourself * Where you have lived abroad and for how long * Your Korean and English ability * Why you are interested in this topic * Your experience appearing on camera, if any * A photo or social media/profile link if available We look forward to hearing from you!
