Summary

I need an experienced California-licensed family law attorney to immediately review and help me take control of an active Los Angeles County divorce, custody, and domestic-violence restraining-order matter. This is not a request for generic legal information, simple form preparation, or someone to bill me for repeatedly explaining things I can read myself. I need someone who can look at the entire record, tell me exactly where I stand, identify what needs to happen next, and help me prepare intelligently for the upcoming hearings. My financial situation is extremely limited. I am currently unemployed, have effectively been displaced from my home, have little or no access to marital funds, and a temporary restraining order now prevents me from returning to the family residence or having normal contact with my children. My spouse is the primary wage earner. Because of this, I need someone who is extremely efficient with my money and willing to work in clearly defined stages or milestones. Background: this is a roughly 10-year marriage with two young children. Over time our financial roles reversed. I had historically been a primary financial provider, but in recent years I became substantially responsible for childcare, homeschooling, household management, activities, and day-to-day parenting while my spouse's career and income increased. The marriage ended abruptly in August 2026. I filed for dissolution and sought temporary custody/support orders. My initial emergency custody request was denied primarily for notice/service/jurisdiction and insufficient emergency-harm findings. My spouse subsequently filed a domestic-violence restraining-order request and obtained temporary ex parte orders that currently include restrictions involving the family residence, contact with the children, temporary custody, and supervised visitation. There is an upcoming Family Court Services mediation and DVRO hearing in early September. I have already assembled a substantial evidence record, including my filed pleadings, the complete DVRO request and signed temporary orders, years of text-message history, contemporaneous communications immediately before and after separation, financial information, caregiving/parenting evidence, and potentially relevant law-enforcement evidence. I am not looking for someone to tell me that every allegation against me is false simply because I disagree with it. There are unfavorable facts and messages in the record, and I want them reviewed just as carefully as favorable evidence. I need counsel who understands that credibility is more important than pretending a difficult marriage was perfect. What I need initially: Review the complete court file and current signed orders and tell me exactly what is legally operative and what I must comply with. Review the DVRO allegations paragraph-by-paragraph and identify what should be admitted, disputed, contextualized, or objectively investigated. Review my existing filings for inconsistencies, credibility risks, procedural errors, and anything opposing counsel is likely to exploit. Determine the correct response strategy, including the DV-120 and supporting declaration/evidence. Evaluate whether there is any legitimate basis for pre-hearing modification, clarification, dissolution, shortened-time relief, or other relief regarding the temporary orders. Develop the custody strategy, including the significance of my historical caregiving role and the temporary displacement/separation of the children from the prior family arrangement. Analyze potential Family Code §3044 issues and other DV/custody consequences. Identify the small number of strongest exhibits rather than flooding the court with thousands of messages. Identify objective records that should be obtained immediately, including potentially 911 audio, CAD/dispatch records, body-camera/welfare-check records, vehicle/location records, financial records, and other corroborating evidence. Prepare me for mediation and the evidentiary hearing, including likely questions, weaknesses, cross-examination issues, and what I should absolutely not say or do. Evaluate temporary child support, spousal support, and need-based attorney-fee relief given the extreme disparity in present access to income and funds. If mutually appropriate, discuss appearing as counsel and taking over the case. I especially want an attorney with substantial experience in: California DVRO proceedings; contested custody; Family Code §3044; emergency/ex parte family-law procedure; Los Angeles Superior Court; evidentiary hearings; domestic-violence allegations involving property destruction/disturbing-the-peace claims rather than only physical injury; temporary support and attorney-fee requests; and high-conflict cases involving extensive electronic evidence. Budget / billing requirement: My resources are currently extremely limited, so please do not respond with only an hourly rate. In your proposal, tell me exactly what you can accomplish for a defined initial amount. For example, I would like to begin with a fixed-fee initial case audit covering review of the essential filings/orders and a written or recorded action plan. After that, we can establish separate milestones for the DVRO response, evidence preparation, hearing preparation, and potentially representation. Please include in your response: California Bar number and current status Years practicing California family law DVRO hearing experience Los Angeles County experience Whether you personally perform the work Your proposed fixed price for the initial case audit Exactly what that initial price includes Estimated turnaround time Whether you are potentially available to appear at the upcoming hearing Whether you handle need-based attorney-fee requests and can seek court-ordered contribution toward fees Please do not apply if your service is primarily document preparation, legal coaching without attorney representation, or if you are not licensed to provide California legal advice. I am ready to provide the complete file immediately to a qualified attorney after an initial conflict check.
