Mechanical Design Engineer – Enclosure Design

Cura Design Limited is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer / Product Design Engineer for the mechanical development of a confidential compact electronic device for industrial applications. The Industrial Design is already completed and approved. The engineer will receive the existing ID CAD, electronic component specifications and product requirements and will be responsible for converting the design into a mechanically resolved, industrial manufacturing-ready product. Project Scope - The Mechanical Design scope includes: - Main enclosure mechanical development - PCB integration and internal component layout - I/O openings and protective cover - Internal cable management - Fasteners, bosses, inserts and assembly architecture - Integration of lighting components - Integration of two fixed wide-angle camera configurations (camera integrated into the main module and a separate USB Type-C camera module) - Mechanical BOM - Engineering drawings and manufacturing-ready CAD data The product will use a modular mounting system supporting different installation methods such as DIN rail, threaded mounts, aluminum profiles, magnetic mounting and adhesive mounting. Design and engineering of the mounting accessories themselves are outside this scope; the engineer will only need to accommodate the defined mounting interface within the product enclosure. Industrial Design, electronics, PCB development, firmware and software development are also outside the scope. Development Schedule The project is planned as a 3-week development program: Week 1 - Mechanical Design Week 2 - Design Finalization & Prototype Preparation Week 3 - Prototype Review, Corrections & Final Release The detailed development brief will be shared with shortlisted candidates. Expected Deliverables - Complete parametric 3D mechanical CAD - Mechanical BOM - Relevant 2D engineering drawings - Exploded assembly / assembly information - Prototype manufacturing data - Final industrial manufacturing-ready engineering data Required Experience - We are looking for practical experience in: - Electronic product enclosure development - PCB and electronic component integration - Plastic part engineering - Camera/sensor integration - DFM, tolerances and assembly design - Preparing products for industrial manufacturing Experience taking an approved Industrial Design through Mechanical Design to manufacturing-ready engineering data is particularly important. Confidentiality & NDA This project involves a confidential and unreleased product. The selected engineer will be required to sign an NDA with Cura Design Limited before receiving the complete project brief, Industrial Design CAD, component specifications and other confidential technical documentation. Project information and development work may not be published or used in portfolios without prior written permission from Cura Design Limited.
