3D Medical Animator Wanted for One Cinematic Reel (Pilot for Ongoing Series)

About us We are doete (doete.nl), a new Dutch brand founded by a practising midwife with 14 years of clinical experience. We help women reconnect with their creative, primal and life giving power. Everything traces back to one remarkable organ: the female reproductive system, and what it does without ever being asked. This is the very first piece of visual identity for the brand. We are starting with one film. If it works, there are eight more moments waiting. The one moment: ovulation We want a single cinematic animation of ovulation. The follicle swelling and rupturing. The egg released. The fimbriae of the fallopian tube reaching out and sweeping it in. Maybe some footage of the heartbeat, the womb, the body We are aiming for the aesthetic of high end scientific visualisation: wet, luminous, tactile, alive. Think confocal microscopy and Lennart Nilsson, not clip art. Textures matter. Light through tissue matters. Fluid matters. We want viewers to feel like they are witnessing something private and enormous happening inside their own body. Critical framing. Most animation in this field centres the embryo or the sperm. We want the opposite. The maternal body is the protagonist. Tissue, blood flow, the surface of the ovary, the reaching movement of the tube. This is a film about a body doing something extraordinary on its own. No fertilisation, no sperm, no embryo. Just the release. If a viewer thinks "my body does that, every month," we have succeeded. WHY THIS IS WORTH YOUR TIME This is a paid pilot, not spec work, and not a one off. We have a list of nine moments in early human life we intend to animate over the coming year: implantation, the first heartbeat, the placenta forming, the first movement. We are hiring for the first one to find the right long term collaborator. We would rather pay properly for one excellent film than cheaply for nine mediocre ones. TO APPLY Start your proposal with the word placenta so we know you read this. Then tell us: Show us the closest thing in your portfolio to organic, wet, cellular or tissue based work. Anatomy counts. Anything gooey and alive counts. In three sentences: how would you shoot this? Where is the camera, what moves, what does the light do? This matters to us more than your rate. What software and pipeline do you use, and do you simulate fluids and soft tissue? Advise us. We are new to this. What is realistically achievable at this budget, and what would you do differently?
