Mobile Developer Needed to Finish, Test & Launch Existing Calorie Tracking App
Worldwide
Finish, Test and Launch Existing Calorie Tracking Mobile App EXECUTIVE SUMMARY I have an existing calorie tracking mobile application that is already approximately 80% completed. The main concept, branding, user interface, and a significant part of the application have already been developed. This is not a new app development project from scratch. I am looking for an experienced mobile developer who can take ownership of the existing project, review what has already been built, complete the remaining work, fix any technical issues, test the full application, and take it through to a successful production launch on both Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Main objective: Take the existing application from its current stage to a stable, polished, fully functional mobile app that is ready for real users and successfully launched on both iOS and Android. SCOPE OF WORK The selected developer will review the existing application and complete everything reasonably required for a successful launch. The expected work includes: 1. Review the existing codebase and application structure. 2. Identify incomplete functionality, technical issues, and bugs. 3. Complete or fix front end functionality where required. 4. Complete or fix back end functionality where required. 5. Ensure the database and APIs work correctly. 6. Complete the main calorie tracking user journey. 7. Ensure users can properly create and manage their accounts. 8. Ensure calorie, food, meal, and related tracking functionality works correctly. 9. Fix incomplete screens, buttons, forms, navigation, calculations, and user flows. 10. Maintain and polish the existing branding and interface. 11. Improve obvious UI and UX inconsistencies. 12. Ensure the application works properly across supported mobile devices. 13. Configure or complete authentication where required. 14. Configure and test subscriptions and payments if included in the existing product. 15. Complete required integrations. 16. Configure analytics and crash reporting where appropriate. 17. Fix technical errors and stability issues. 18. Perform full QA and testing. 19. Prepare production builds for both iOS and Android. 20. Configure the required production environments. 21. Submit the application to Apple App Store and Google Play Store. 22. Resolve reasonable technical issues or store related technical rejections identified during the initial submission process. 23. Complete final production setup and handover. The intention is to complete and improve the existing application, not unnecessarily rebuild it. REQUIRED SKILLS The ideal developer should have strong experience in: 1. Mobile App Development 2. iOS and Android Development 3. React Native, Flutter, or the existing app technology 4. Front End Development 5. Back End Development 6. API Integration 7. Database Integration 8. Authentication 9. Firebase, Supabase, or similar backend platforms 10. Subscription and Payment Integration 11. Apple In App Purchases and Google Play Billing where applicable 12. Apple App Store Deployment 13. Google Play Store Deployment 14. QA and Debugging 15. Git and GitHub 16. Mobile UI and UX Implementation 17. Reviewing and improving existing or AI assisted code The developer should be comfortable working with an existing codebase rather than requiring a fresh rebuild. EXPECTED DELIVERABLES The project will be considered successfully completed when: 1. The application is stable and working correctly. 2. Main calorie tracking functionality works from end to end. 3. User registration, login, profile, and account functionality work correctly where applicable. 4. Food, meal, calorie, and related tracking features work correctly. 5. Calculations and stored user data work correctly. 6. Main buttons, screens, forms, navigation, and user flows function correctly. 7. Payments and subscriptions work correctly if included in the current application. 8. Required APIs, database connections, and integrations are functioning correctly. 9. The interface is professionally polished and consistent with the existing branding. 10. The application works properly across supported iOS and Android devices. 11. There are no known critical bugs preventing normal use. 12. Production builds for iOS and Android are successfully prepared. 13. The application is successfully submitted to both Apple App Store and Google Play Store. 14. Any reasonable technical issues identified during the initial store review are addressed. 15. All source code, accounts, integrations, and project ownership remain with me. 16. A basic handover is provided explaining the main technical setup and future maintenance requirements. The developer should also identify any important technical requirement necessary for launch that may not have been specifically mentioned above and raise it during the project rather than treating an obvious launch requirement as additional scope later. WORKING STYLE I am looking for someone who takes ownership of the project, can independently understand what remains, communicates clearly, provides regular progress updates, and maintains consistent progress throughout the project. The developer should be comfortable identifying problems and proposing solutions without requiring detailed instructions for every technical task. The focus should be on delivering a completed and reliable product rather than simply completing individual coding tasks. I also expect the developer to make good use of the existing application rather than unnecessarily rebuilding completed work. I am not a mobile developer, so I expect reasonable technical guidance whenever an important technical decision is required. PROJECT TYPE Fixed Price and Milestone Based Project I am interested in paying for completed deliverables and results rather than hourly billing. MILESTONE 1 Review the existing application and confirm what remains to reach launch. MILESTONE 2 Complete the remaining functionality and resolve major technical issues. MILESTONE 3 Test the complete application and resolve critical launch issues. MILESTONE 4 Prepare production builds, submit the application to both Apple App Store and Google Play Store, resolve reasonable initial submission issues, and provide final project handover. INITIAL PROJECT BUDGET Target Budget: USD 500 Fixed Price The application is already approximately 80% completed and has previously reached a working prototype stage. This budget is intended for completion, technical review, debugging, minor improvements, integrations, testing, production preparation, and launch on Apple App Store and Google Play Store. It is not intended for development from scratch. I am looking for a developer who can work efficiently with the existing product rather than rebuilding completed work. If the initial review identifies a major technical issue that genuinely falls significantly outside the expected scope, this should be discussed and agreed before additional work is performed. EXPECTED TIMELINE Target completion: approximately 10 calendar days from project start. The expectation is that the developer will focus consistently on the project and bring the existing application to production ready status within this period. The 10 day target applies to completing the development work, QA, production preparation, and submitting the application to both app stores. Final Apple App Store or Google Play approval may depend on their external review timelines. OPTIONAL ONGOING MAINTENANCE If the initial project is completed successfully and I am satisfied with the quality of the work, I would prefer to continue working with the same developer during the important early stage after launch. There may be an opportunity for up to three months of ongoing maintenance at approximately USD 300 per month. The work may include bug fixes, small UI and UX adjustments, minor feature improvements, technical fixes, performance improvements, store version updates, changes based on early user feedback, and general application maintenance. A developer who performs well, communicates effectively, understands the product, and provides reliable technical support may also be considered for longer term development and maintenance opportunities as the product grows. WHEN APPLYING Please include: 1. Examples of mobile apps you have personally completed or launched. 2. Experience taking an existing unfinished application through to production. 3. Your main mobile development technologies. 4. Experience with both front end and back end mobile development. 5. Experience publishing applications to both Apple App Store and Google Play Store. 6. Experience with subscriptions and payments if applicable. 7. Confirmation that you can work with and improve an existing codebase. 8. Confirmation that you can focus on completing the initial project within approximately 10 days. 9. Your proposed fixed price. 10. Whether you would also be interested in ongoing maintenance after launch. Please start your proposal with: APP READY so I know you have reviewed the complete project description.
